Ah Tua's obituary

Ah Tua Teo, 78, of Hudson, NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, unexpectedly but peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Ah Tua was born in 1945 in the Republic of Singapore to Teo Quee Hock and Lee Ah Kim. After graduating from Singapore Bible College and working with the Billy Graham Association, he moved to the US in 1969 for his graduate education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School where he earned his M.Div. and Th.M. There, he met and married his devoted wife of 49 years, Yetta. He went on to join Haggai Institute, based in Singapore, where he worked as a spokesperson and assistant dean until 1981. After that, he and Yetta settled in Hudson, NY where they welcomed their two daughters, Lauren and Sarah.

Ah Tua taught for the State University of New York at Columbia Greene Community College (1982-2008) and as a tenured professor at SUNY Ulster (2008-2022). He served as an associate pastor at First Baptist Church of Catskill, NY, taught at Mt. River Christian Church, and co-owned Cornerstone Books & Gifts in Hudson, NY.

Ah Tua is survived by his wife Yetta, daughters Lauren Letalien (Jeff) and Sarah Ray (Hunter), twin brother John Teo Yeok Han, brother Robert Teo Ah Tee (Shirley), and sister Irene Teo Geok Choon. His greatest joy later in life came from being “Ah Kong” to his 5 granddaughters. Ah Tua also leaves behind a niece, nephews, and dear friends Tim Meservey, Don Drum, and Jim Hobbs. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Teo Tee Tee and Teo Geok Seng.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm at Bates & Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson, NY 12534. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 11 AM, at Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church, 33 Church Rd., Hudson, NY 12534.
