Aesta's obituary

Aesta Manschreck Anderson, 72, of Centennial, Colorado passed away on January 9, 2026 in her home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Aesta was born July 5, 1953 in Texas, daughter of the late Clyde and Ardis Manschreck.

Aesta was a loving, caring, and selfless person who always sought to make everyone around her feel happy and supported. Her family will remember her most for her warm and calm demeanor, sharp wit, unconditional love, and of course for her love of tea, books, and cats. She was a beautiful soul who will be truly missed by all.

Aesta is survived by her son, Andrew Perlmutter; her daughter, Jessamyn Perlmutter; her daughter-in-law, Larissa Hohe; her granddaughter, Maysie Perlmutter; her brother, Theo Manschreck; her sister-in-law, Judy Manschreck; her nephew, Chris Manschreck; her niece, Heidi Berger; and many additional family members, friends, and neighbors.

Aesta was born in Texas and grew up moving all over with her family as her father took up various positions in historical theology at different institutions while her mother worked as a high school English teacher. She lived in Durham, Wisconsin, Chicago, Houston, and Germany at various points throughout her childhood. She worked as a laboratory technician early in adulthood in Houston, and moved to Colorado in the 1980s, where she remained for the rest of her life. There, she obtained a masters degree from the University of Denver in math and computer science and she worked for many years at Hughes Aircraft. She then took ten years to raise her children, Andrew and Jessie. Aesta then chose to return to school, where she earned another masters degree from the University of Denver in library and information science. She gained many friends through this program and earned a position at Smoky Hill Public Library, where she worked until retirement in 2021. She spent her remaining years relaxing, visiting with family and friends, and enjoying cups of tea with her cats and a good book or movie.

Aesta was a beloved member of many communities, including the Smoky Hill Public Library, her circle of friends from her masters program (affectionately named the "Library Ladies"), the Pinecliffe Association, and other groups who will greatly miss her.

A memorial will be held Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the Green Farm Barn at the Chatfield Farms satellite location of the Denver Botanic Gardens. It will be held starting at 11 am, with an opportunity for anyone to speak and share words about Aesta. Donations may be made in her name on this site and will go to Colorado Humane, where she adopted many cats over the years, and the Arapahoe Library District, where she worked as a librarian to support reading and public resources in her community.
