Background
A Life of Stories and Paws
Aesta’s life was a collection of well-loved stories and the soft purring of furry, whiskered companions. A retired librarian from the Smoky Hill Library (2021), Aesta didn't just love reading and immersing herself in audiobooks; she enjoyed sparking that same joy in others.
Her heart, however, belonged largely to the animal kingdom—specifically cats. Although she had one beloved dog in childhood, Shotsy, she adopted many cats over the years as an adult, including Monster, Abby, Frisky, and Roscoe from various places, and Chester, Suki, Miss Callie, and Kat Noir specifically from Humane Colorado (formerly, Dumb Friends League). On December 26, 2022, following the passing of her long-loved family cat, Suki, she found her latest "meant to be" companion, Kat Noir, an older cat who had been waiting months for the right person to walk through the door.
To honor her legacy, contributions to this fund will be split between the two causes she held dear:
*Humane Colorado: Helping more animals like Kat Noir and Suki find their forever homes.
*Arapahoe Library System: Continuing the mission of literacy and community that Aesta championed for years.
Alternatively, the family encourages you to support your local animal shelter or public library in her memory.
We also ask that you share this site with others who knew and loved Aesta.
