Aerin's obituary
In 2019, Aerin abruptly passed away, leaving many of her writings, journals, and photos unseen or forgotten.
But this past January, her community was amazed to learn that all of her belongings had been sitting untouched and still remained in her apartment. A group of us made no delay to retrieve and archive her precious works and clothing. After months of friends archiving and organizing, and distributing her belongings to the proper storage or new home, Aerin’s legacy can now be read, felt, and live again.
Please join us for a celebration of Aerin's life, and a reading of her works
Sunday August 4, 2024, 12-3pm
at Hyde Park Arts Center, 5020 S Cornell Avenue, Chicago IL 60615
We are asking if you wish/can:
-to bring a bouquet in her honor
-or a snack for the small potluck
-perhaps a memory or poem you would like to share at the end of scheduled readings
-and a bag to carry items of Aerin's that speak to you to bring them home for you to cherish.
FOR THOSE UNABLE TO PHYSICALLY JOIN US:
You will be able to stream the live footage at Avery Dennison's public instagram page @blueavey2
or her facebook page.
For those that know Jojo Brock, she will also be streaming from a Zoom meeting and later saving to share with others.
We are still continuing to fundraise for headstone costs.
Donations will still be accepted and appreciated after the memorial at our already established go fund me.
(although we have reached our original $800 goal, $475 for the collective cost and labor of this event)
Collectively we would like to encourage donations to fully cover this cost so this step in preserving Aerin's legacy gets completed.
And perhaps giving our girl "her flowers"/a more elaborate fitting piece. <3
You can visit our already established Go fund me page to donate.

We look forward in the future to curating a book of the scans of Aerin's work that have been gathered thus far.
If there is any document you would like to share please don't hesitate to send to:

Also if you would like to be added to our list of people to continue to update on this progress, send your contact information to the email listed above.
Thank you,
