Adriana Gutierrez Akiona, 35, of Ceres, California, passed away on May 12, 2024 after a fierce year-long battle with cancer.

Born on January 11, 1989, in Modesto, California, to Salvador and Eloisa Gutierrez, Adriana was a bolt of lightning; brilliant, powerful, and formidable. Her radiance brought joy, humor, and excitement to the world for those who knew her.

Adriana graduated from CSU Stanislaus and was continuing her graduate education at Concordia University. Her career in child education, although brief, was immensely impactful for her students and for her colleagues. Over the course of her career, Adriana worked with students in Atwater, Ceres Unified School District, and Modesto City schools, where she served in development services for our young students and those with additional needs.

Adriana was a “mama bear” to her children and the children around her. Those she protected never feared anything and they never questioned how much she loved them. She enjoyed experiencing the world with and through her family, and watching her children grow into the incredible people they are becoming. She loved to laugh, and there was nothing on earth that could stand in her way.

She is survived by her daughter, Liliana Vasquez; husband, Reyn Akiona; son, Garrett Akiona; Mother and Father, Eloisa and Salvador Gutierrez; and her three brothers, Alex Gutierrez, Jorge Gutierrez, and Miguel Gutierrez.
