What is the history of your organization?
Our inaugural initiative, Elder Heart Inc., (the name you’ll find on our 501c3 designation), founded in 2013 by three Veterans after the suicide of a fellow brother-in-arms, connected Veterans and civilians to create public art that raised awareness of issues Veterans face, including Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and suicide risk.
As Elder Heart grew, we ran an awareness campaign called #Mission22, in which 22's all over the country (NASCAR's #22 car driver, for example) were adopted and spoke out about issues Veterans face after returning home. That campaign was overwhelmingly successful; in 2015 Elder Heart rebranded as Mission 22. We now operate in all 50 states and internationally, reaching Veterans remotely in the comfort of their own homes.Mission 22’s - 13 employees are active duty Soldiers, Veterans, military family members, health coaches, mental health professionals, and have direct experience supporting Veterans.
