Adam's obituary

"And it is impossible to open the universe wider than human arms."  - Tymoteusz Karpowicz

My dearest Dad…

He was rushing around in anticipation of welcoming us home with open arms and a loving heart from our 2 week vacation in Poland.

Poland. The country where he was born, grew up, started a family, and created a home.

He brought my mother and me to the United States in 1981, due to the political turmoil in Poland. He created a new home and dreamed of his own American dream.

He lived more than half his life here… and he was getting everything ready to welcome us - his beloved grandsons and only daughter - home to Charlottesville.

Adam’s grandsons - Alan and Evan - were his greatest joy; the source of his greatest hopes and dreams; they were his motivation and inspiration for a life full of new adventures, new experiences, and the most unbelievable stories. He was so proud of them, spent all of his free time with them, and he gave them all of his attention, all of his energy, and all of his soul.

Adam was a brilliant professional Photographer and loved taking pictures. For the past 11 years, he worked at the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River in the Visual Information Department. He was well-respected for his amazing talent and much loved by his co-workers for his sense of humor and affability.

He was also our family chronicler – our family photographer and filmmaker. He left us beautiful family remembrances of vacations, special occasions, and the times we shared together.

He was the most amazing and beloved Dad and Granddad – the legendary “Dziadzia” – full of life and joyful energy, compassion, caring, and kind-heartedness. He left us suddenly. None of us were ready for him to go – and neither was he. There were no warning signs, no time to prepare. He was going to always be with us. We believed that unquestioningly.

He passed away on July 12, 2022. He was 70 years old.

So with shattered hearts and deepest regrets, we share this news with those of you that knew Adam; our lives will never be the same without him. He was the loving hearth of our family.

He will always be in our hearts and our memories. May he rest in peace. We invite you to light a candle with us in his memory, for his wonderful soul.
