Adam's obituary

Adam Deh, 80, a longtime resident of Crestone, passed away in peace and with grace, under the light of a full moon above the mountains of Colorado Springs, on July 9th, 2025. He was surrounded by loving friends who embraced him as family and a host of Angels singing him Home to rest.

Adam was born in Croatia on September 27th, 1944, to father Adam and mother Elisabetha (Kettel) Deh, who would bravely flee the war-torn region with Adam only days old. Adam was the sole survivor among the children on that fateful train ride, which would take him to Southern Germany, where he was raised alongside brothers Hans and Helmut and sister Hildegarde. He remained in Germany until his service in the Merchant Marines took him on a 6-year journey around the world. His travels to Scandinavia, Japan, South America, and New Zealand produced countless stories and were a source of great joy, humor, and fulfilment in his life. Adam spoke German, Swedish, Norwegian, and the French of his ancestral lineage, though he was—and will continue to remain—most fluent in Telepathy. Above all else, he spoke with the love of a kind and pure heart, ever-so-softly, and always with the most brilliant sparkle in his bright blue eyes.

After his time in the Merchant Marines, Adam relocated to the United States, settling in the Bay Area of California, where he would work for many years as an engineer in the semiconductor tooling industry. He was known professionally for his refined skills and precision, natural talents bestowed by his Virgo Ascendant. During his time in the Bay Area, Adam became involved in various spiritual communities and was an active practitioner of Transcendental Meditation, though his spiritual views were far more expansive than any one particular practice or faith.

Adam relocated to Crestone, Colorado in 2002, building a home, raising chickens and ducks, and turning rocky soils into apple trees and rhubarb, always a proponent of self-reliance. He was known personally for his kind and gentle nature, a love for butter and sweet coffee, and, no doubt, his unique and quirky ways. His life reflected a quiet strength, his heart a deep compassion, his spirit a Cosmic awareness.

He is survived by many friends, the closest among them claiming him as beloved family. His presence will endure in their hearts eternally.

A Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Crestone Funeral Pyre, followed by a natural burial by the Crestone End of Life Project. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the volunteers of this wonderful organization for their service to the Crestone community and their sacred role in honoring the memory of our cherished loved ones who have gone before us.

Adam, may the long-time Sun shine upon You, all Love surround You. And the Pure Light within You guide your way on.

You're embedded deep in the heart of my soul, my sweet friend.
