Background
It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Abe Lee, on January 25, 2025. He was an irreplaceable part of our lives.
Abe was a deeply compassionate person whose intellect and strong convictions shaped his life and inspired those around him. He was the man who always showed up when you needed him and saw every stranger as worthy of respect. His authenticity, honesty, and unwavering integrity made him a rare and remarkable soul.
He was an endlessly supportive partner and devoted father who raised his children with intention and deep thoughtfulness—never underestimating their capacity to understand the complexity of the world. He was a loving son, brother, and unshakable friend to many.
Abe’s sense of justice and inclusivity extended to everything he did. If you knew him, you likely debated him and experienced his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. He was a dedicated volunteer for local organizations and direct mutual aid efforts, always striving to help others in meaningful and lasting ways.
As we grieve this unimaginable loss, we also want to celebrate his life and all the ridiculously good times we had with Abe. There was truly no one like him.
Many people have asked how to memorialize the ways that Abe contributed to their lives. Abe recently became the Treasurer for Future Economy Collective, a community-based group in Blacksburg that supports mutual aid in Blacksburg and the New River Valley area. The group runs Southpaw Cafe to raise funds for this effort . Contributing to the Abe Lee Memorial Fund at the Future Economy Collective will support a continuation of Abe's meaningful volunteer work there.
