Abdolamir's obituary
Abdolamir Khorsand, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on April 6th, 2024, after suffering from a stroke. His unexpected departure has left those who knew him in profound shock and sorrow.
Born on June 24th, 1939 he was son of Tabeh and Esmael Khorsand. He grew up in Baghdad, Iraq, where his early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for social justice and a desire to make a positive impact on society. His commitment to fighting inequity, paired with his natural leadership skills led to a successful career in politics and his role as a prominent political figure in the region. Despite facing threats to his safety, he remained dedicated to his principles throughout his life.
In 1968, Abdolamir was forced to flee Iraq due to escalating political persecution, and sought refuge in Iran, his father’s homeland, where he embarked on a journey to rebuild his life from the ground up. In his new home Abdolamir transitioned from a career in politics to business, leveraging his leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit to build a successful business empire. He dedicated his life to providing opportunities for his family.
Despite his demanding career, Abdolamir was a devoted husband and father. He deeply valued resilience, work ethic, and ambition, and worked hard to instill those values in his children and grandchildren. In 2018, he moved to Canada to spend more time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a proud grandfather, and took every opportunity to emphasize his love and pride for his grandchildren.
He was an extraordinary man and will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and zest for life. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Sadieh, his children: Vesal and Amin, Samir and Esra, Saeed and Hiva, Masoud and Maria, Mansoor and Donya, Ali and Elnaz, and his grandchildren: Nilufar, Soha, Asal, Nick, Illia, Nima, Vala, Samin, Arsha, Sami, and Maha. He will be deeply missed.
