This is a picture from the San Diego Chargers vs Coyboys game and this is the face he made when I started making fun of him because they lost. He was such a good sport about it and this was such a fun time. Being able to go to a game with each other and being against each other and still have the best time is a favorite memory of mine.

The picture I have attached is from August 20, 2009, at 3:42am. This is us having breakfast after a night shift. Interestingly, I am in the background of this picture. It was Satter and someone else who took a picture with my phone for me to discover later. We worked a lot of shifts together at the Little Waldorf. He was the hardest worker I’ve ever known, and he took pride in his work. I am very happy that I got to spend so much time bonding with him during excessively busy night shifts. As well as getting to know him personally after work. The man loved his dogs. I would dare say he loved them more than he loved most humans.  And I know that when he let you in, you were family to him. He had so much love in his heart. My favorite memory with the man was when we had to throw away a 3’x4’ box television. Before we lifted it over the lip of the dumpster we took turns throwing rocks into the screen. Just dumb child like fun. We laughed the whole time and eventually threw the giant box into the dumpster. I will miss his tenacious soul.  I trust he is at peace. My condolences to the family. Thank you for letting me share in this celebration of my old friend.

Satter (saved in my phone as Satt Man) and I worked together in close quarters for a long time, at The Wal. We became very close. When he felt like being around people- he was part of a small number of people who I spent almost all of my time with, either at work or after work.  He taught me how to play pool. He gave me my first vinyl collection which later he, Reese, and I took to the quarry and blasted out of the sky with a 12-gauge.

His unique brand of slang was a source of endless entertainment. We all quoted him the way most people quote Will Ferrell movies. Bro playa, combilaish, and twomper all became part of our vernacular.

It’s fitting that he loved dogs so much considering that to all of us during that time, he was like our resident pit bull. We knew his bite was worse than his bark, he didn’t liked to have his head patted but we couldn’t resist, and we knew to stay away from his corner of the bar when he was on guard duty (bartending).

I texted him a few months ago on his birthday. His first response was, “Ahh, Mr. Red Head. You—I carried your big ass across McCarran.” [Spelling and grammar adjusted for those who don’t speak Satter].

That’s a story I’ll keep to myself and the tight unit of people who remember that night.

I loved the guy. I trusted the guy. I will definitely miss the guy.

Here is a children’s story I wrote about him many years ago. May we always remember him this way; finding wonder in (while simultaneously being annoyed by) the world around him.

If this link doesn’t work in this post, that’s very fitting. Because after all…Satter’s review of this story was, “I dunno, G. That’s too much reading.”

My condolences to Aaron's family. I first met Aaron when we were kids and became friends up until he moved across town. We then played against each other in football in high school (Reed vs Reno). We then reunited as teammates at FRC and then again at USM. I would see him around town every now and again, talking about old times. So sad to see the post about his passing the other day. Love you buddy.
