Aaliyah's obituary
Aaliyah Stevens, the bravest young woman we were blessed to know passed away at the age of 20 after a long and difficult battle with lung cancer. Aaliyah was diagnosed with Condrasarcoma at the age of 15 and put on a brave face from the first moment. Aaliyah did not let cancer define her and instead threw herself into her favorite passion: modeling. She spent hours preparing for a career in the Arts. While attending college at Clark Atlanta University, Aaliyah began her pursuit of a modeling career, while pursuing a degree in Communications.
Aaliyah is survived by her mother, N'aimah A. Mahdi, siblings A'queelah Mahdi, D'Aijah Mahdi, and her precious son Zayn Malik. Additional siblings include Briyana Newby, Richard Stevens Jr., Darryl Stevens, and Marquis Stevens. Her father Richard L. Stevens, stepmother Liz Stevens, Grandparents Robert and Sarah Stevens, her maternal aunt Minette Mahdi and spouse Wendy Mahdi. Her paternal aunts and uncles include Rita Stevens Carre, Tina Stevens, Leslie Hill, Shirley Wilson, Norris Hill, Jason Matty, and Sandi Jackson. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Helen and Malik Mahdi, and her uncle Raymond Clark Jr. She remains lifted in love by a host of family and friends. We also want to acknowledge Aaliyah’s best friends Tamika Millender, Trinity White, Daijah Smith, Denisha Dean, Dezare Clark, Haley Clark, Jo Trav, and De' Marrco Cannon. They stood by her and were incredibly important and supportive of her. Please join us in celebrating the life of Aaliyah. The time and date of the formal ceremony will be announced soon.
