Laura, I Just fell in to this website . You have a very kind and tender heart. You truly love what is vulnerable and sweet. I'm not sure we get over the loss but instead reach out to the broken, the vulnerable, the hungry, and the hurting and comfort them because you know how to fix their pain with your love helping them know they are safe and loved. I can help you help through the adolescent and animal resource fund. (919) 902-0636 Connie with AARF

Sometimes it is difficult for others to relate to the deep pain and large void left inside when a pet dies. Often they see the pet as 'just animal' and not the family member the pet had been in your life. It doesn't matter the size or type of pet, the feelings you shared were true & unconditional.
This pain will ease, eventually. It may take a few months or years but one day, you will be able to think about past baby and instead of the terrible pain... a very special warmth will fill your heart and happy memories will fill your mind.

Laura, Connie, Barbara, and anyone else who might need some help moving on without forgetting, please email me. I have rescued and lost so many pets, and have found a path forward, described in one of the essays I write for each little soul who has left me. There was one time after losing four in a row when I was sitting with still fingers on the keyboard of my laptop, spent and wordless in the empty grief of that moment. And, after asking why I was feeling such incredible pain an answer arrived from deep inside me. Part of the experience that day was the face and voice of an old cowboy I met at around age 5. The words he gave me nearly 40 years earlier made me smile on that terrible day. I hope in this essay you can find something of what I discovered. The pain you feel is the marker of a great quality inside you. If I can help you be in touch with that strength I will gladly share those humble words left for a stray little cat who loved me. Just a thought. No agenda. "Ease his pain" to borrow from some good writing.
