Todd's obituary
Todd Lee Jeffries was called early to return to his heavenly home.
Always ready for an adventure, baby Todd decided he had had enough and arrived a month early during the winter of ’78 when the Ohio River froze and 28 inches of snow buried the city. He was so small, a mere 4½ pounds, and barely filled the space of his bassinet. In time and now six feet tall, adventure and the elements remained at the core of Todd’s spirit. Whether hiking the mountainous terrain in Missoula, Montana, or tagging Snook and Angler fish in the salty waters off the Floridian coast, or handcrafting beehives in the open country fields of Richmond, Kentucky, Todd loved the earth, clouds, and sea. Todd’s quick wit, wry grin, and love of cars came honestly from his father. Perhaps, if you were lucky, you might have seen a red ’68 VW Bug decorated from fender to fender with Christmas lights – that was Todd. Life’s road took Todd through Ascension Catholic Grade School, St. Xavier High School (Class of 1996), and out the doors of EKU. Todd was intelligent, eclectic, and kind. Always ready to lend a hand, there was not stranger, plant, or animal, too unfamiliar to help, too far gone to revive, or too lost to love. In the end, Todd’s heart never stopped loving only stopped beating. And so our hearts must beat on and treasure Todd’s fierceness for family, friends, and life itself. And let us also remember that we are mistaken when we watch the last breath rise and the chest sink into its final stoney stillness because the soul knows that death is not an end but rather the first taste of eternity. Sleep, Todd, in heavenly peace.
Todd is preceded in death by his grandmothers Naomi Gephart (Nana), Eva Jeffries (Mema) and his beloved father, Arvin Jeffries. He is survived by his wife, Emily and children, Katie and Jude; his mother, Carol Jeffries; his sister, Michelle Livesay; brother Shawn Jeffries and sister-in-law Cindy; niece and nephews, Corrine, Noah, and Logan Jeffries; nephew and godson, Conner Livesay as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Captains Quarters from 12-3 p.m. on October 5, 2025. For those wishing to pay their respects, a portion of Todd’s ashes will be laid to rest with his father at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
