Oh tim so sorry to hear he was a my school mate we played in newly built houses as kids can't believe he's gone good soul gone to soon
My dearest Timmy, my beautiful friend, colleague and mentor... I feel like it's all been a very bad dream. I miss you so very much, your silly laugh, that brilliant mind of yours... - what I would give just to get one of your 'you right' texts... xxx

I'm so sorry for the loss of the beautiful soul that was Timmy.

He was my friend, my family and confidant during our time growing up. He will be forever loved and missed. 🙏🏾🖤💛💔

I'm just about to finish work today at the Mascot office AANSW. And I'm still feeling like Tim is here with us. It’s as if it was only yesterday that he was walking through the rows of desks here, always busy, juggling meetings, always present.

His energy, his presence and his care energy are still lingering in this space 💪💯.

It is extremely difficult for adopted people to connect to others because it’s so difficult and so much work to get through society’s fantasy perception of adoption - it is rare to find someone with real empathy and understanding and Tim had it immediately. He just knew Truth when he heard it.
I only had the privilege of working with Tim for a short time. He was one of the best bosses I have ever had and one of the strongest, most intelligent and caring people I've met. Sometimes a 'star' just burns too bright. I'm so sad he was taken from you and his community.

To me, Tim has been a superman - not just because of his deep knowledge, smart and hard work, but also because of the genuine care he gave his people.

Tim is still the only Deputy Secretary who ever approached me (an assistant project officer), to have a yarn, to ask how I was going, what I thought about our CTG work, and any support I needed. I usually keep a low profile and try to stay out of the way of senior leaders. But Tim made it different. He saw people, not just positions.

His kindness and respect to people like me, in junior roles, has been meaning a lot to me and many others. Tim is truly one of a kind.

20 - 24 March 2023, Tim led us, his Closing the Gap team, for a visit to Aboriginal communities in Far West NSW. That was the first time I realised how hard he worked - He drove for us, no matter in the dark early mornings or during the daytime. He stayed up to late night, yarning with community members and listening deeply. I was "shocked" and confused - where did all his energy come from? how could someone keep working, non-stop, for long long hours? Even I was physically and emotionally very exhausted during the visit (I even fell asleep in the van meanwhile Tim was driving), Tim still seemed energised and stood strong for everyone there, his team and his Aboriginal people.

Tim, may you rest well now. We’re carrying your spirit forward, holding the torch you lit, and continuing the journey.

Tim struck me as a gentle, friendly, funny man - passionate about improving the lives of First Nations people. Thinking of his beautiful family and all his friends ❤️
I have to say I was in shock …
2013, Sydney NSW, Australia
I have to say I was in shock when I read Patricia’s post about Tim. I wish he would have told me he was sick. I met Tim when we were in the same team at ADHC. Tim wasn’t just a work colleague, he was my friend. After work we would go out drinking together with Damien, Cathy, Kim, Anne Marie and other people from work. He was a deep thinker and always loved a good debate or heated discussion about the issues of the day, especially after a few drinks. Tim was a special person who worked hard for is community to make positives changes. He cared about what matters most in the public service improving the lives of the people we work for. Tim was an old sole with a kind heart. Tim loved Patricia with all his heart, he was so excited to get married and spend his life with her. Over the years we kept in touch about what was happening in each other lives. He will be missed by many people who were lucky enough to know him.
A beautiful soul who walked amongst us for such a short time, but made a massive impact.  So glad to have met Tim
Tim Ireland.

The man with the mirthful eyes who could both laugh at you and laugh with you without changing his expression beyond a small quirky lift to the corner of his lips. It was in the flash within his eyes. He knew. He understood what you were thinking, grasp instantly what you were saying and could let you know with a simple expression whether your perceptions were right or wrong.

Those were my first impressions of Tim, but later I understood that he was so much deeper than that, his dominant life mission was for his family and the betterment of his people which he embraced with a passion, foresight and energy.

I came to love Tim. I loved his quiet manners, I loved his thoughtful insights. I loved that he was real in a world of deception.

I met Tim when I worked in the Ministers office.

While I, through necessity, made my personal totally political, he kept his personal just that. Personal.

His political was highly strategic and he kept that for his people.

He was a quiet one, he held his personal life close. it took quite some time for it to click with me that he, and that gorgeous woman Patricia, who were both working in the agency, were actually couple. I loved that he loved Patricia with every fibre of his being. She was the delight of his life. Once he decided to let you in, he allowed his love for Patricia shine like the clarity of bright lamp, a light that penetrated through the fluctuating fog of living.

Tim is a great loss to those who loved him and a loss to those whose lives he penetrated through his work.

I love you Tim. I will forever be bereft that I did not know that you were ill and did not make it to Sydney in the last few years to talk and laugh and discuss the top issues in our hearts. You will be forever a loss.

THE QUIET ACHIEVER

*A poem by Carey Milton

 The quiet achiever,

A firm believer...who wont tell a soul...

Of their soul searching goal.

Their goal ahead..somehow misread...

Climbing the ladder...without a word said.

Actions speak louder than words they do say...

Thus why the quiet achiever succeeds in every way!

Quintessential guardian of knowledge within..

The Silent Achiever shall win with a grin…

I was so shocker to hear about Timothy's passing. He was such a incredible leader and wise person. You sure did love a drink and debate, you sure could hold your own. RIP Tim!  Most sincere condolences to Patricia and whole Family. #flyhigh#fcancer#flyhigh
