I knew and talked regularly with Scott for several years. He also met members of my family during a trip to England.
What struck me most about him was his considered directness and honesty with people, and his kindness and concern re. animals. This is surely a terrific combination of human qualities.
The time when I knew him was hectic and colorful, not least creatively. I sometimes reflect that it would have been super to have had an era in which I could have spent more time talking with him one to one, as he was thoughtful, rigorous and compassionate in his way. He was very fair and had a sense of humor. So that might have been fascinating and delightful. A consolation is witnessing, then and now, what he meant to others: their cherished impressions and stories, chiefly warm and smile-prompting.

Scott and I were both at UC Davis together 10 years before we met and became a couple. I was getting a BA degree and he was getting a MA degree. I often wonder if we ever crossed paths on that campus. ~10 years later in the Bay Area, we met, fell in love, and were together for the rest of his life. <3
