Scott's obituary
It is with the greatest sadness that I announce here the death of Scott Campbell. Scott was born in Painesville, Ohio on March 24, 1957, and died in Seattle, Washington on July 9, 2023. Scott was a shy person all his life, an introvert with sharp, dry wit, known for his humor, creativity, and gentle kindness. Scott was authentic, fearless, ethical, and courageous.
Scott was predeceased by his brother Craig, mother Eleanor, and father Doug Campbell. His memory is alive through his loving partner of 26 years, Terisa Golding, his sister-in-law Janet Campbell, sister Krista Campbell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He met his lifetime partner, Terisa, in 1997, doing a play in the Bay Area.
Scott was a prolific writer, having started writing stories in the 2nd grade and never stopped. In all, he wrote 13 novels and too many short stories to count. He graduated from Tisch School of the Arts in New York with a degree in Film Production, and from the University of California, Davis with a Master’s degree in creative writing.
Scott was an avid collector of classical music on vinyl LPs, and eventually turned that hobby into a business in the early days of eBay. He became arguably the largest vintage classical LP dealer in the country at the height of his market. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of 20th-century classical composers, works, and musicians. His favorites were Janacek, Dvorak, and Elgar.
For recreation, Scott enjoyed walking his dogs in the neighborhood, biking on Lake Washington, camping, drinking red wine & reading, eating spicy Asian foods, and watching action movies.
Scott was a pacifist and a staunch supporter of civil liberties, sexual freedoms, and animal rights. He believed in the ideals “to thine own self be true" and “‘an it harm none, do what ye will." He did not dwell on the past or worry about the future.
Scott will be remembered for his tenderness, his playfulness, his sense of fun and adventure, his sincerity, his generosity, and his wisdom.
