Raymond showed all who were looking how to achieve success in life in spite of adversity.

He lived life gracefully with eloquence.

His infectious smile and positive attitude keep everyone in his presence up-beat and on high.

He will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

RIP my friend!

Father’s Day
In response to "When was the last time you spent time with Raymond?"
Send our condolences from the Charleston Family.  Raymond was always a beacon of light and a blessed spirit. Love and Light to the Butler family.
Ray was always my protector.  The year I got braces, and that God awful headgear, he showed up at my locker first thing in the morning.   I was crying my eyes out.  He convinced me that it would be better for me to get to home room first, rather than to arrive last and have everyone staring at me.  He also reminded me that it was Friday and I had gym, orchestra, band and then lunch.  I wouldn't have to wear that headgear until after lunch and then for only one hour.  His logic was, everybody will stare, but by Monday it will be old news.  He was right.  A first responder even then.  I benefited from the fact that my older brother Alex was friends with his brother Larry.  I am sure that Alex who was already at Garfield, told Larry and Larry told Ray, take care of my little sister.  Thank God for the village!!!
The importance of family.
In response to "What did you learn from Raymond?"
My ability to connect with people. Thanks Pops
In response to "What always reminds you of Raymond?"
He made sure my cousins had a consistent, positive male in their lives that they could count on.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Raymond?"
He knew somebody everywhere we went.
In response to "What made Raymond different from most people you know?"
Ray Butler was a good brother, a fun loving, cheerfull brother. Always very positive, friendly, and kind. He will be greatly missed. To my Elementry, jr, and High school friend, his brother Larry, and all of the family, please accept my most sincere condolences.
