Peggy's obituary

Peggy Joan Rhoades Degge, 88, of Abilene Texas passed from this life on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 following a short battle with pneumonia. She had resided her final four years with her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Rick Dunagan in Austin, Texas. She was born December 2, 1933, in Ft. Worth, Texas and was the eldest daughter of Chester and LaRue Rhoades. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, great granddaughter, Lilly Lorraine Hans  and beloved husband, Eldon Degge. She is survived by her sister Mary Anderson of Plano, TX, children Donna Tatsch and husband Roland of Quinlan, TX, Cathy McKinley of Kerville, TX, Deborah Robinson and fiancé David Tabaka also of Kerrville, TX, Bradley Degge of Lockhart, TX, and Jennifer Dunagan and husband Rick of Austin, TX. Peggy was richly blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and countless family and friends that loved her dearly. 

Peggy was a beautiful woman of faith who attended the Church of Christ wherever she lived. She worked for Abilene Christian University at Brown Memorial Library for 25 years. She will forever be remembered for the great love she showered on her family and friends. Her love was often shown through her wonderful cooking abilities. She was also an accomplished seamstress who made clothing and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Peggy had a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed singing with family and at church. Her celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, November 12th, 12:00 PM, at Westover Hills Church of Christ located at 8332 Mesa Drive in Austin, Texas. All family and friends are invited. Her burial will be in Springtown, Texas for immediate family at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband and parents.
