2025, Grandmas Garden
— with Ruth, Sully, Dani, Eliza Jane Lincoln and Patrice
I would like to express my deepest condolences to Patrice's family, and especially to Matt, whom I had the privilege of watching grow up alongside Patrice’s firm. My connection with Patrice began 36 years ago, in 1990, when I was introduced to her by Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Makela, a fellow Army officer assigned to Fort Detrick. Glenn was not only a colleague but also one of Patrice’s neighbors. From our very first meeting, I eagerly anticipated our annual tax return preparation sessions in the basement of Patrice’s home. Each visit began with a warm greeting from her husband at the front door, followed by his direction to her office. During our sessions, Patrice and I often spoke at length about my business travels, her cruises, our golf games, and politics. She frequently reminded me about the elusive hole-in-one she scored, which I still have yet to achieve. I will always remember her intense frown—quickly replaced by a smile—whenever I forgot to bring a particular document or form. Her delight was evident when her calculations resulted in a refund from the IRS. Patrice will be terribly missed, and her legacy of kindness, professionalism, and friendship will remain with me and all who knew her.
I am so sorry to hear that Patrice passed! I was just describing her to a friend yesterday. I despised the preparation for my tax appointments but coming in to meet with her was the reward. The first time I came in, I was very genuinely concerned that I might be charged based on the length of the appointment, but after learning that was not the case, I relaxed, cleared time for my appointment each year and enjoyed her stories and opinions and the laughter. Also, the first time I came in, she was gathering my info, and when asking about charitable contributions, she looked at me over her glasses, and said, "Pastor, I expect you tithe, right?" She was one of a kind and such a gift!

Mrs. Lincoln welcomed me into her house, her stories and her advice, while treating me like one of the family. You never left her side without a piece of wisdom. There was always laughter and a new yarn to be heard when in her presence. I can always thank her for introducing me to drambuie.

Cheers to an amazing person who taught us how to live well and love our family, friends and neighbors.

Matt and Family, The memories and stories I have with your Mom are way too many to share.  Our relationship goes back 25+ years.  She not only did my taxes, she became a wonderful friend.  My only regret is I didn’t get to go on the retreat trip she invited me to join her on.  I planned to go, but unfortunately ended up having hip surgery. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. 💐🙏

She still makes me laugh. I thank God she did not charge me by the hour listening to her stories.

A beautiful full of life human being

Thank you for the memories

Dear Lincoln Family, this obituary for Patrice is beautifully written and captures the essence of Patrice’s zest for living. She was always abuzz with energy, a story and true caring. Our family sends you heartfelt sympathy and prays for Patrice to now rest in peace. With great fondness, the Laughland Family.
