Mr. Baroja was the first person I met from Stevenson when I went to the SFUSD enrollment fair to check out Kindergarten options for my daughter. Mr. B was so welcoming and enthusiastic that I felt comfortable knowing that this was our attendance area school. During the last three years, and especially with the conversion to online learning during the pandemic, I especially appreciated Mr. B’s weekly newsletters and the smooth transition between in-person and virtual learning. When we asked Mr. B if he would want a donation of a 3D printer for the students, he was genuinely excited for the school to have one, and my husband and I knew that he would be able to figure out how best to incorporate the technology into the children’s learning. We were heartbroken to hear of Mr. B’s death, and it still doesn’t seem real that he is gone. He has touched many lives, including ours and our daughter’s. We will truly miss him and won’t forget him. May the Lord comfort you all during this time of mourning.

Mike has always been such a loyal and selfless friend to me while at Berkeley. I will always remember him for his ability to be vulnerable and authentic with everyone he meets. He came in clutch for me when I needed help and I know that he does the same for so many others. He will be truly missed.

Mike was a great n beautiful person !

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Mike.  May your happy memories bring help and comfort during this difficult time of sorrow.

I met Kuya Mike during my freshman year at UC Berkeley through the Filipino student community’s mentorship program. Mike was the sweetest mentor and friend who was quick to share advice and lend a hand.  I will miss his infectious laughter. We were always joking around. I will fondly remember sneaking up on him whenever I spied him on campus and catching up with him over meals. I am shocked and devastated with the news of his passing.  I will miss him greatly, but will remember him fondly.

You are loved and missed dearly 🙏🏽❤️
Kuya Mike was one of the best Staff at Galing Bata, I had him 2012-2015 ish. He was close with me and my friends and pretty much all the other students. He always made every after school fun and also can’t forget about summer school. I remember when the GB students would go out and about at Westfield or Metreon he would always offer to buy  food or drinks for people who didn’t have the money. And as I said always made everything fun, it was so fun competing with him in our activities and generally playing games. He’s a really kind hearted and I say a selfless person because he always listened to his students and always try to get to know their problems. Kuya Mike really had a big impact on my childhood, a part of my life. He’s really an older brother figure to my younger self and will always be. I’m still shock and a bit of in-denial by this. Me and my friend were looking forward to hangout with him this year and catch up on our life. May he rest in peace, we’ll miss you Kuya Mike. Condolences to his family and people special to him.
I am so sad & shocked to hear of Mike's passing. He was such a kind, generous, patient, and caring person. I could always count on Mike to help me with tech issues, while sharing his humor and insights. It was a privilege to work with him and I'll always be grateful for that opportunity. My condolences to his family and friends.
