Thinking of you, Melissa.  Love and hugs to the entire family.  You are missed.
She is a beautiful person. Yvonne and I will miss her dearly. Even though we are not blood related. She is family to us. Her mom and dad are like brother and sister to us. She is in Gods hands now.
My heart breaks to hear of this great loss. Melissa has always been such a kind, loving, funny and caring soul. I remember many times she would come home from her hospital shifts, still in her scrubs while very pregnant with Naomi. Michael and she would cuddle up barely fitting on the small couch in grandma Suarez’ front room .. and they’d take a long nap together. I remember how sweet they were together and excited to be pregnant with Naomi. I will ALWAYS remember how she came and prayed for my son when my family was in need of faith, prayer, and miracles. We will continue to pray for you during this heavy time of grief. Sending all my love and hugs to you Sally and all the family.  - Candace

Melissa and I became really close the past few years at UCSF Health. She brought lots of positivity and encouragement as my Patient Safety partner even when we had challenging discussions related to patient outcomes. I remember her bright smile and quirky comments on tier 3 calls to brighten up everyone’s mood when we had stressful hospital capacity issues. We became exceptionally close last year when both of our daughters were in the same graduating phase in their lives. Her daughter Naomi as graduating 12th grader in HS, and my daughter London as graduating 8th grader in elementary. We used to compare notes about our daughter’s fun celebrations and milestones.

Melissa was extra supportive especially when I became the President of Philippines Nurses Association of Northern California (PNANC) that she ran to be a Board Member to help me advance my advocacy work. I won’t forget the times when we chat over the phone or text and uplift each other up as Filipino nurse leaders, working moms of biracial kiddos, advocates for our communities, and wanting to leave a legacy for our kids. You will forever be in my heart my dear friend Melissa. Your bright smile will never be forgotten.
