We were heartbroken to hear about the passing of our dear friend and former colleague. During our time together at Richwoods, we shared so many wonderful memories...especially while coaching cheerleading. Maria brought such energy, warmth and joy to every moment! Her infectious smile lit up the room and she had a special gift for connecting with students and helping them thrive! She wasn't just a colleague....she was a light in our community. She loved taking part in plays and entertaining people. My husband fondly called her "LOIS after the famous Lois Lane from the movies of Superman. That nickname truly suited her: strong, smart and UNFORGETTABLE! We're sending our deepest condolences and prayers to her husband and family during this difficult time. May her legacy continue in the many lives she touched. RIP Maria
"Miss" Lane was a class act. She was a wonderful teacher but a better person. She will be missed. She impacted so many lives including mine. Prayers and condolences to her husband.
May God give comfort to Bill and all of those who knew, loved and were loved by Maria. A beautiful person in every facet on every stage of her life. Her smile had a sparkle her faculty colleagues and her many students at Richwoods High School knew well. She was a well traveled adventurer. It my good fortune to recall one of the formative experiences of my youth when she signed on as a faculty chaperone for our Richwoods People to People student group trip to Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei in 1984. Bumping into her around Peoria for the past 40 years, seeing her would never fail to recall that tremendous summer trip. Sorry to hear this news of her passing. As a teacher, she made a difference in so many lives. Mine was one of them.
Maria was a class act. She put so much zest into living; with her varied interests, she explored so many different aspects of life; and, in the process, she brightened countless others‘ lives along the way. It is difficult to imagine Maria is no longer with us. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband and dear family, who she loved so much!
She was such a great fellow RHS teacher, as well as later on in retirement(!?) in Alaska. That ready smile was infectious, on stage and off! She excelled in and loved whatever she did. We were all lucky to have known her.
Maria was a lovely teacher and friend. I was fortunate enough to pick up our friendship in Naples, Fl and share the love of flowers at the Botanical Gardens etc. she will be missed by all. God Bless❤️
