I just learned of Mahlet's passing. I'm sad as I told my husband, I needed to reach out to her to check on her. We last spoke in 2020 and I sent her a get well card. 

We met in 2002 at a summer fellowship at UIC School of Pub in Chicago. We loved the public health field and traveling. That's what we had in common. 

May her wishes and legacy live on through her family. Love Cody

23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you;

As 2021 comes to an end, your light shines on Mahletyé (ድንቅ ብርሀን) … always and forever!

Your contagious smile still melts hearts; your deep laughter still vibrates; your sweet voice still heard; your caring soul and infectious energy still felt; your authenticity still remembered; your passion and feistiness still endure; your thoughtfulness and generosity continue to give; your steadfast faith and positive attitude we still learn from; your beautiful face still engraved in our hearts.

As far as your love for travel – you have wings now!  May God grant our wish – I have no doubt you will be there by my side when the time comes.

Though you are deeply missed here on earth, the heavens rejoice.  We have a special angel watching over us and rooting for us.
