My beautiful angel friend Mhalatey  , today marks another year without you, and it's your birthday coming . It's been four long years, but the memories we shared remain in my heart. Every time summer arrives, I think of you. You adored the warm weather and cherished every moment outdoors. Your laughter and joy in the sunshine are moments I hold dear. I miss you every day, but especially today. Happy birthday in heaven, my dear friend. I hope you're enjoying the eternal summer up there. Love you and miss you a lot Mhaletya ..

Today, we want to share a major announcement that’s been 5 years in the making.

Before I do-

I want you to Imagine you’re a woman in Ethiopia who feels a lump on your breast.

Your best option would be to go to the hospital - but right now - the only hospital in Addis - who treats anyone free of charge is St. Paul.

And the mammogram machine — the #1 to diagnose for early detection — is more than 30 years old at the hospital.

The lack of this one machine is costing us countless lives and impacting thousands of families in Ethiopia.

That’s why we’ve been working to solve this major challenge for the past several years.

Some of the roadblocks our organization hit in bringing a mammogram machine to Addis - bureaucracy in Ethiopia, new mammogram machine costs, which are upward of 350,000 — plus the question of maintenance needed on these machines…

all proved to make things almost impossible.

But then God sends angels in unique ways.

A Young woman Mahlet Girma, was in this crowd with many of you in 2018. What you may not have known is that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in California, and sadly passed away in 2021.

She shared her journey on Youtube, where it still lives today.

And what’s more — her loved ones have continued to carry her message of strength and courage, with a team called “Team 4:13 For Mahlet” ,reflective of her faith, and the verse from Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Today, we are proud to announce that Team 4:13 For Mahlet has tremendously helped us carry out our mission of helping early detection of breast cancer in Ethiopia.

Together we are now able to fund a brand new mammogram machine at St.Paul hospital - that will be accessible for anyone in Ethiopia - free of charge.

The cost is 322,058 dollars!

And the five year warranty is $80,000! It will be in Addis in about 5 months!

Let’s give alpha and team 4:13 for mahalet a huge round of APPLAUSE!!

We want to especially thank others who helped facilitate the many meetings to make this happen…

First, Mahlet’s loved ones and Vera’s alpha team who visited St.Paul hospital…

Dr.Sisay and the leadership staff at St.Paul hospital…

Dr.Ergeba Sheferaw , a mammogram expert

USA

Late Dr. Woubalem Bedilu

Late Dr.Gashawtena Fanta

Infinity Advanced Technology Solutions in Ethiopia

Dr. Yisihak. and Dr. Bethlehem from st.paul hospital

Again, thank you everyone, and TEAM 4:13 For Mahlet for making what seemed impossible, possible. Through your efforts and our own, you have helped Mahlet’s legacy continue!

We know her radiant smile is looking down upon us with incredible pride today.

Thank you!

Three years flew by since you departed Mahi! You will always be remembered dear!
I miss you, my Superwoman. You're always in my heart.
Mahlet, I miss you so much. It's been so hard to think that it's already been 2.5 years. I wish you were here to see my daughter. I named her after you (Lariah Mahlet Rodgers) because even before I had her I wanted her to have something of you. You should see her now, she is 18 months now and all she does is listen to mezmur and loves going to church. She reminds me so much of you it's crazy. I cant't wait to tell her about you and the amazing person you were.  I love and miss you dearly!
