Kirk's obituary
Kirk Alan Thompson walked into the presence of his Savior, Jesus, on January 6, 2022 at the age 57. He is now fully healed and more alive than he has ever been! Kirk was born to Ray and Judith Thompson on May 30, 1964 in Houston, Texas. As a child, he loved every sport! If there was a ball-to-be-had, it was being thrown, caught, hit, bounced, shot or kicked. He also was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and water-skiing. Kirk had quite a voice and loved singing. Kirk met the love-of-his life, Sheryl, in the fall of 1984 at Baylor University. He and Sheryl moved to Round Rock after graduation and began their beautiful life together. They married December 5, 1987 and went on to have two amazing children, Kally and Kaci. Kirk was always zealous about his faith, his family, his friends and his career. In August 2009 Kirk opened his first Chick-Fil-A restaurant in Pflugerville, Texas. After much success and love for his business, he opened his second restaurant in May of 2019 in Hutto, Texas. Kirk was a savvy businessman, but always made time to teach Sunday school, volunteer with the youth-group-summer-camps, and coach Kally’s baseball and football teams. He was always involved with any activities in which Kally and Kaci participated. In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband and father, Kirk also continued pursuing his life-long passions for hunting, fishing, and Baylor Football. Spending time with friends and family on his ranch and (as of lately) loving on his little granddaughters and nieces were among his biggest priorities. In July of 2018, Kirk was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Through his 3 year battle Kirk was always smiling, even on his hardest days. He loved his life deeply, took nothing for granted and fought hard. He did not allow his cancer to define him and continued with his career and his life. He had an overflowing gratefulness that was contagious to all who met him. Kirk held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. He joins his mother Judith in Heaven and is survived by his wife Sheryl, his son Kally Thompson and his wife Aydee, his daughter Kaci Kovar and her husband Clayton, his brothers Cory Thompson and Dan Thompson, his step-sisters Kellie Cooper, Melissa Weber, and Tracie Frederick, his father Ray Thompson and his wife Zana, grandchildren Ali Romo, Maddie Romo, and Whitley Kovar. We know Kirk is hearing, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
“....have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever…”
