Kat touched so many folks and was adored by everyone who knew her. Funny, sharp, caring, beautiful- what a wonderful light she shared with the world.
To paraphrase Steinbeck,  It's so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone. Anyone who knew Kat, knew she was exactly that sort of light. She will be missed. My deepest heartfelt condolences on your loss.
Sending so much love to your whole family. I'll be thinking of each of you and holding you all in my heart.

When I was hired in 2019, I was immediately impressed by my dean. Kat will always be the best leader I have ever had. I looked forward to sharing friendship and wine with her. Then a pandemic hit, and then it was too late. I wish I had known Kat better. My personal grief is for what wasn't--how much greater the loss is for all who did know Kat well. My heart is with you all. 💔

There is nothing more to say than this: Kat was the best at what she did. No one else will ever come close. Rest easy, my best boss and my friend.
Kat was beautiful inside and out. Smart as a whip and so funny. I will miss her so much. We need more people like Kat in this world. She was so proud of Sarah and Jake. She talked about them all the time.

To Kat's family and friends:
I am so sorry for your loss.
I personally did not Kat, but as a NOVA English Adjunct Professor I heard her speak at many Adjunct Professional Development meetings, received emails from her, and am grateful for some of the changes and policies she instituted in her LASS Leadership position.
My thoughts are with you.

Kat was one of the nicest people at NOVA. She had a sparkle about her that made everyone feel comfortable and respected. I was in many meetings with her through the years and she treated everyone with the same warmth and kindness. Those of us who interacted with her were very lucky and we will miss her sweet smile. Rest in Peace, Kat.
My prayers to her family and friends.
There are some people to admire from afar. Kat will always be a woman to admire right up close, side-by-side, leading from the front or encouraging from behind. I didn’t get enough time with her, a sentiment I know we all share. If the quality of a life is measured in the love one leaves behind, Kat’s legacy lives on in each of us who got to know her for even a short time and to see what true inner strength looks like and can accomplish. I love you, Kat. Always.
Dean Kat was a prime example of kindness, determination, and strength. Her support and words of encouragement while I was a student at NOVA, as well as during my transfer to UVA, are some things I will never forget. Sending my prayers and thoughts to her family!
To the family,
My condolences and prayers to you. My husband and I will continue to pray for your family in your loss. Kat was my beautiful supervisor during her time with LASS at the Loudoun Campus. My heart ❤️ is saddened, but I will always remember her encouragement, sense of humor and listening ears to every situation.

Missing My big boss!

Blessing

I am so sorry to hear about Kat’s passing. Truly devastated. We were neighbors as children and reunited as adults when you all moved back to P’ville. Then lost touch again and I moved to FL. My heartfelt condolences to all of you, Dave, Sarah, Jake, her parents Bruce & Gay and sister Emily. May Kat Rest In Peace, she was truly one in a million, smart, beautiful, funny, and caring.
My heartfelt condolences to the family. It's a great loss.
Kat hired me to work my dream job at Northern Virginia Community College. She was an attentive, intelligent, witty, engaged boss. Faculty meetings led by her were inevitably entertaining as well as informative. She "had our back" and advocated for us. I remember a conversation with her where she talked about how she tried to take care of each student that entered her office. Her goal was not only to problem solve but to help students feel heard and seen. She is greatly missed.
