I would like to send you all my deepest condolences. I’ve worked with Karol in Chad (doctor of Kome 5 clinic ). He was always smiling and discreet. His abrupt departure leaves us sad. I will be with you in thought to accompany him to his last bivouac. Rest in peace Karol, you gonna miss us. Michele from France

I served with Karol several times in 8 CH and RCD, for example the first time I came across him he was a very young trooper in Cyprus in 1974-75. My fondest memories of him are when he was one of my senior NCOs when I commanded B Squadron RCD and then the Brigade Reconnaissance Squadron. In Recce on the big German exercise in Fall 1984 he discovered American troops when none were supposed to be participating. When Brigade refused to believe my report Karol established a traffic control post at an intersection, pretending to be German, and schmoozed with the Yanks as they drove by, building up a complete picture of how they got on to the exercise and what their plans were. Due to Karol's initiative my second report was believed. So typical of how good a soldier he was!

Magdalena, to you and your family our sincere condolences.

Eric, our prayers are with you and family at this hour of need.  Take care.

my thoughts and prayers are always with your family.

I have lost a friend unexpectedly and I still find it hard to believe.

i have so many fun memories of time spent together, and looking forward to seeing you when you came for a visit from BC.

Your joy for life, your kindness, and your spirit will remain with me forever.

I was shocked to read about Karlos' passing.  So very sorry for your loss.  We worked together at NDHQ in Ottawa for a few years, had mutual friends and kept in touch occasionally.  Stay strong, hold the memories close.

Karol was a lovely man and he will be sadly missed at our station. We shared many laughs and good times over the short time he spent with us. A man of many layers and complexities but none shone brighter than his generosity, sense of humour and his desire to help others. He was big in many ways.

Our world will be a little darker somehow, colours less vibrant and music less full for a while. However, in time fond memories of Karol will buoy up our spirit and the world will seem in balance once again. Rest In peace my friend, Rest In Peace

Remembering our friend.
This is a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson that metaphorically speaks to a "Sailors" passing. In Comox, where Karol was our Station Leader, we have such a bar. I find it fitting in that Karol had traversed the Comox Bar many times and now has Crossed the Bar for the last time.  Rest easy friend.
