Personal note from Stephanie (daughter)

Life Memorial - Stephanie Honouring Her Fathers Life

In the first few days after my father’s unexpected passing, I was having a hard time accepting this reality and the many ways my father touched my life and others. I continued my grief work by putting my thoughts into action; I wanted to think of ways to honour him and it led me to so many memories of him and the special places in our life.

While Mom and Erik were in Antigua in April doing everything they could to have Dad repatriated back to Canada , I had to go to Mom and Dad’s house for the first time since his passing alone and that’s when the idea connected.

To make my hopes of this vision come through I invite you to participate in this little project. If you have a picture, a drawing or a figurine of a blue jay, a hibiscus flower or a deer (don’t worry if you don’t we will be bringing some as well) please bring them to the Celebration of Life as representations of my father. Once we have all gathered, I will speak more of this idea during my part of the eulogy.

In short;
- If you have, please bring a drawing, picture, little figurine of any of the following; a blue jay bird, hibiscus flower, a deer stag
- On your way home grab a memorabilia from the basket

Hotels & Transportation

We wanted to provide some information and ideas for those comings from out of town to consider.

Hotels:
- Magdalena, Stephanie and family will be staying in downtown of Ottawa at the Courtyard Marriott;
- Naturally there are also many other hotels in the downtown core to consider but we wanted to share with you where will be staying

For those interested in accommodations by the airport below are three options you can consider and thanks to our friends at Roxborough Bus Lines (Thank you McRae’s!) we have also arranged for a Coach bus to take guests to and from Beechwood Funeral Home.

If you plan on attending from out of town at some of these hotels please let Erik, Stephanie or Magdalena know where you are staying so we can try and coordinate transportation.
