Gilda, Cristina, Michael, and the Scarpaci Family. Please accept our heartfelt condolences in this most solemn of moments.  My history with Joe and Gilda goes a long way back, to our days together at The University of Florida.  I want to believe that Joe and I had a special relationship as friends.  I will miss him immensely.  We love 💕 you.

I am so sorry to hear of your family's lost!  I travelled with Joe's Cuba trip in January 2017 and I am a current member of the Penn State Alumni Club that Joe also attended.  I sent notices of Joe's trips to other organizations I belong to to encourage the opportunity to join his adventures.  I am truly honored to have known Joe,  if only for a short time as one of his adventurers!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I met Joe through Gilda at VTLS in the 2000s. He always had a smile and a conversation to offer, even years after. I know he loved his kids immensely. Love and light to all of you.
Gilda, Michael, Cristina and the entire Scarpaci family; Please accept our deepest sympathy on Joe's passing. Hope you find and take comfort in remembering all the wonderful things that he did to impact so many people's lives along the way, most importantly yours. Christina, Michael, Gilda and Family - I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Joe.  He was such a wonderful person. He always had the nicest things to say about his children.   Joe and Gilda came to our house last year for our Christmas Party and I photographed him with his sister Josette, whom he adored.   May he rest in Peace with his mother that left this world too soon.  And may you find comfort in all the wonderful times you had with him.

Sincerely - Julie & Jamie Lynch

What a loss, what a life! Sending love to the entire Scarpaci family during this incredibly difficult time. Grateful I got to meet Joe Scarpaci and forever thankful that he and Gilda brought the wonderful Cristina and Michael into this world :)
Joe and I taught together, and traveled together (including working in the Bolivian Amazon, taking a class to high altitudes in Sikkim, exploring by motor bike during a day off in Cuba, and in many other adventurous places!). We played tennis and coached our kids in soccer together as well. More recently there were wood  projects, trading stories, and cutting hundreds of daffodils.  All were some of the ways that Joe  engaged us all. I will miss Joe!
I am so sorry to hear this news - Joe was hugely helpful to me in taking a group to Cuba from VCU two years in a row. I am terribly sorry for your loss and wish you all peace as you celebrate his life.

Gilda, Michael, Christina and family!

We are deeply saddened by Joe’s passing. He is/was a light in our favorite memories of favorite people during our days in Blacksburg.

While we were skeptical about travel soccer (having heard horror stories of horrifying parents), we took a leap of faith with the New River Rapids family.

It did not take long to realize that Andrew found a good team and teammates AND we also found a social circle of parents that is still connected 25 years later.

We connected with Joe/Gilda right away because of the Pittsburgh connection and our membership in the VT community.

We fondly remember Joe as a true Pittsburgher. He was a scholar, world traveler, biker and wine-drinker but more importantly, a loving hubby and devoted and doting family man. In it for the kids primarily, he added significantly to the fun and frivolity of the parents group.

We send our kindest sympathies and prayers for strength, peace and consolation. You should be JOYful for his tremendous legacy.

☮️ ❤️🙏

Gerry and Gina

What a beautiful obituary and a beautiful man.  May he rest in peace and enjoy that Cuban cigar and martini.  Deepest sympathies.
