John was an absolute blessing to everyone around him. He was an incredible leader and mentor.

I did a boarders DTS that he lead in ‘04, staffed it in ‘06 and again in ‘12 and ‘13. He was one of the most influential people in my life and I’d never be who I am today without haven’t him as a big brother through all my time in YWAM.

John officiated my wedding and there’s no one else I’d rather have had be apart of that.

He will forever be missed, and his influence on me will impact the generations of kids that go before me.

Bethany, I am so so sorry for your loss. I am continuing to pray for you and your family. The book/journal 'Dark Clouds Deep Mercy' was a beneficial support for me during a time of sorrow. I can't even imagine what you're going through, and I am praying for God's peace and comfort to be felt, and His love to be made known to you all the more through the people He has ordained to be surrounding you.

I remember a ministry time during our 2005 YWAM Denver staff conference. Bethany was up front and shared about some personal insecurities and suddenly, John started singing over her as he walked from the back of the room, up the aisle, and then embraced her. Many of us, about 100 staff, who witnessed their sweet and bold love were speechless and in tears.

Here is our staff photo, which is a bit blurred and still recognizable.

Rest in peace my friend. I’ll see you again.🤍🪽
I don’t know where to start. I remember the conversations we had in oakhurst in the mid to late 90s. I knew John’s big heart and sensitive soul and will always see him in baggy jeans and skater shoes, being kind and encouraging to all. Sending my love you to you, Bethany.
Prayers for you Bethany from Minnesota.  Love you all.
Words are so hard to convey in this time. We remember when The Baseball Team would have their games, how supportive your family was to Ivan and the boys. Your family is so polite and kind. I remember when Bethany was pregnant during their last season, and she ended up not being able to go to one of their games do to her going into labor. I overhead John talking about his new baby they got blessed with. How he spoke if the baby was so sweet, he was so happy and you could see it with how he was explaining the birthing experience. You can just tell he had such a great heart. Your family is so beautiful.

I don't know what to say.  I am so sorry, Bethany.  Like everyone here, I loved John's heart and his awesomeness.
Bethany, kids,  and everyone that knew John; I am extremely sorry to hear this❣️You have my deepest sympathy ,truly❣️I will definitely be praying.  I looked up to John and Bethany as heroes of our faith and I still to this day share parts of their testimony to help others.  My heart is with you and your family, Bethany.  I know without a doubt where John is and I rejoice with him; although I grieve with you.
