Jay Douglas Border, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on April 5, 1957, he was the beloved son of Daniel and Marjorie Border. Jay spent his early years in Riverside, California, before developing a lifelong connection to the Southwest. He lived much of his life in Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico—regions that resonated deeply with his adventurous spirit and love for wide-open spaces.
Jay was a devoted father to his five children: Toria, James, Taryn, Jesse, and Jacob. He also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Jaden, Meah, Alec, Audrey, Landen, Jackson, Colton, Oakley, Casper, and Harlowe. His sister Claire also survives him. Jay’s family was the cornerstone of his life and brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
A passionate motorcycle enthusiast, Jay found endless fulfillment in the world of two wheels. His exceptional talent for building and restoring motorcycles earned admiration from all who witnessed his craft. With unmatched skill and dedication, he breathed new life into countless bikes over the years. Beyond motorcycles, Jay had a profound love for music. He delighted in sharing songs, guitar solos, and favorite albums with those around him—a testament to his ability to connect through shared passions. Jay also had a deep affection for dogs—particularly the Boxer breed—and rescued multiple Boxers over the years, providing them with loving homes.
Jay’s vibrant personality left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Known for his playful humor and unique nicknames, he had an extraordinary gift for creating laughter and joy wherever he went. His memorable sayings and lighthearted spirit will remain treasured by all who knew him. In addition to his humor, Jay was a gifted storyteller whose impactful memories and lessons resonated deeply with loved ones.
