Elmo Andam was born to a humble family 84 years ago in our neighborhood of Brgy Dancel,
Dingras, Ilocos Norte.
With my brother, we grew up together. We played as boys running barefooted, showed our skills with marbles, and flew our skites in the streets. The moonlight
lighted our games on the main road. On weekends and most of the summer weekdays, we walked to the river to swim and tried to catch fish in the crude ways.
We went to the same grade from elementary through high school.
After that, we all went to Manila for our college years. Elmo finished Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
During one fiesta while on vacation,
Elmo was smitten by a pretty teacher Luz Anorim from Vigan Ilocos Sur.. Their friendship blossomed into 💕 love. Their relationship was distracted by Luz fulfilling her approved application
of immigration to the United States.
After two years in the US, Luz travelled back to Vigan to marry Elmo, the love of her life in 1970.
They established their home in Los Angeles, California. Their union is blessed with two sons.
Elmo did not forget his hometown.
He helped coordinate the raising of funds for the restoration of the St Joseph Church of Dingras, a hollowed center of our faith.
And so we bid farewell to you Elmo Andam. Your friends and the people of Dingras is grateful to your kindly deeds. You are now in the company of your older brother , Peroy, and your ancestors. May the Lord Jesus hold you in the hollow of his hand and keep you in his bosom and may you Rest in Peace.
