Dave's obituary
On February 25, 2023, Dave Cannon Parkerson passed away peacefully in Alexandria, Virginia. He was only 73 years old. This loss was unexpected, leaving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened.
Dave was born on October 25, 1949 to Otto and Martha Parkerson in Greenville, Mississippi. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1967, where he built friendships that he cherished throughout his life. He went on to attend Ole Miss where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity – and where he tested the boundaries of his jokester tendencies.
Dave married Kay Roberts on March 3, 1984 in their hometown of Greenville. Soon after, they moved to Palm Beach County, Florida where they lived together for over 30 years. A self-proclaimed avid cyclist and Clydesdale runner, Dave was passionate about health and was unafraid of the hot South Florida sunshine. Some of his favorite days were spent running (slowly) on vacation in Sanibel Island, and then relaxing on the beach.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Martha, and his brothers, Stephen (“Bobo”) and Jimmy. We find solace in knowing he’s been reunited with these loved ones; what a joyous reunion it must have been! He will be remembered with much love by his wife of 39 years Kay, as well as his three children, Cannon, Brad, and Emma. He also leaves behind Harry, his sweet 5 year old Lakeland Terrier who is now missing his favorite walking companion.
Dave was always a charmer and had an amazing sense of humor, which made his career in sales a successful one. Whether it was stocks, furniture, or consulting services, Dave knew how to connect with you, understand your problems, and work with you to find a solution. He spent decades as a sales executive, a career he was passionate about and very proud of.
Dave’s wit was razor sharp. He was known to make up facts just to see if he could pull one over on you! While he often made his family laugh with his outrageous dance moves and dorky dad jokes, he had a keen sense of when to be serious and offer sage guidance – always at just the right time. He was kind, loving, and dedicated, and he was always a source of positivity. But really, he will be missed more than words can say. He was one-of-a-kind, and to be loved by him was truly something special.
No funeral service is planned at this time. Instead, the family asks that friends and loved ones take a long, slow walk (or run), saying hello to people you pass along the way. When your feet touch the pavement or someone smiles your way, Dave will be there.
