I remember calling Dan asking him if I could come over to Hungry Man to screen some editor reels with him. I had been on the agency side and switched over to the vendor side. It was my first Executive Producer role. I arrived with lunch and a bottle of Pinot Grigio. He was so kind to make time for me. What I remember most was that he looked at the wine and laughed, he said that was the wine he had at his wedding. We didn’t drink the wine I hope he took it home to his wife. He was such a kind man who made time for everyone.

Dan started his ad career out of college as my broadcast assistant. On a typical Chiat/Day & Night production we were filming during the day and editing at night to make an absurd airdate. Dan came to me after staying up for more than 24 hours and said "I can't think straight anymore, I'm so tired. Can I go home and get some sleep?" "Yes", of course" I answered. Dan worked hard those years with me as an assistant and producer. He had a very impressive career post Chiat/Day, married his sweetheart, and lovingly raised his children. He beat us to heaven. Rest now my friend.

Scrolling through all of the memories, it was amazing to see how little Dan changed over the years and just how much of his personality shined through. His easy going way and ever present smile made him a joy to be around. I will sorely miss running into him in the alley behind our houses and then getting into a long conversation about random subjects. He was just a great man and a gentle sole. The world lost one of its bright lights.
