1989, Chiat/Day, Venice CA

August 1989. I had just started at Chiat as the receptionist and I was sent over to the Antioch building to pass out the newest extension phone list. Here walks up an adorable guy with a wild head of hair, sparkling eyes and a mischievous smile. I liked him instantly!

“Hi I’m Dan the broadcast assistant” 

“Hi I’m Jigisha the new receptionist”  

“I’m never going to be able to pronounce that - do you have a nickname?”

“My cousins call me Gidget”

“Cool, I’m gonna go with Gidget”

For 34 years he always called me Gidget. 

We shared so many epic moments at Chiat and more great times as neighbors in El Segundo with his beautiful Sonja. Dan was always a light of positive energy and love. As so many have said, the very best of us.  

I’ll miss you always dear Dan.

The brightest light- Dan was always a joy to run into and he seemed to genuinely be happy to see you when he did. We always enjoyed our catch ups and he was simply  one of the nicest guys around. Along with Sonja they both are  integral to our community…and we shared our girls going to NDA as well. 

So very saddened by his loss abd Duffy family know that your little Gundo community will be here to lift you up…just as Dan always did for others. Sending our love.

There are just some people in this world who shine brightly. Dan was one of those people.I will never think of him without thinking of his warmth and good humor.I loved how he loved his family and I will hold them in my heart.

I'll never forget Dan's amazi…
1995
I'll never forget Dan's amazing sense of humor, and love of adventure. Like, when he joined up with Bill Walton and cruised around the east coast in a VW van.

Dan Duffy...what an absolute legend. Shocked to hear of his passing. I worked with Dan on and off for 10 yrs at Hungry Man and he was always so supportive and generous. Sending all my love and blessings to his friends and family, he'll be sorely missed.

When I recently had my first child, I instinctively started looking for examples within my extended family of people who were upholding similar values in how they raised their children and who could offer me an example of how strong parent and child relationships can be. I found that in Dan and Sonja and their family. They were examples of how you can be a parent and also have a strong, fun, thoughtful, and loving relationship with your kids. Their family always seemed filled with joy, respect, and love for one another. And although I didn't get to spend as much time as I'd like with Dan, I always enjoyed the time we spent together and so much appreciated the enthusiasm he had for me in starting my own family.

We will miss you Dan Duffy. You were simply the best. So many memories over two decades of friendship that I  will always cherish. Thank you for the coffee mornings in the mountains, endless dinners we shared, the crazy props you would show up with, and the beautiful way you just were.  We love you Dan.
