Cy was my wrestling coach in 2012. He was a man full of energy, passion, and dedication. I truly believe that season of wrestling was the hardest thing I've ever accomplished, preparing me for my future in the military. Thank you, Cylas, for instilling discipline in me and for building a piece in my life that will never be forgotten.

I became friends with Cy in high school.  I had a crush on him, like so many girls did back in those days!  Sometime in our early 20s, I recall him coming to my apartment and us sitting on my floor, drinking wine, and talking about everything and anything until sun up. When he left, I watched him walk away in his super cool brown leather coat & just swooned over him (this is making me smile typing this out).  We stayed in touch after he moved to CA - usually years between a catch up call or message.  He’d tell me about his latest admin position, or his current girlfriend… always with pride and optimism.  I knew he was a sensitive & gentle being… the way he’d talk about life, his students, his people, how hard he’d take a breakup… he had a heart of gold.  To know that he’s gone, leaves me with a heavy heart for all that knew him.  Cy, you were a special being and I’m so glad to have known you.  I will spread extra kindness on your behalf, my friend.  ✌🏼🩵

My condolences to Cy’s family. I really liked him. He taught my son in high school and was his wrestling coach. I’m so grateful for knowing him and being a colleague also at Wheatland High School. He will be missed by many people.
Cy, your passing saddens me. You were as we say, One of the good guys. You were a fantastic educator and coach and you touched many lives including those of my sons. I thank you for teaching them to be good men. I will always remember our times at Wheatland High School. You will be missed.
Mr Olsen was the best always helped no matter what the case was. He always kept me out of trouble and best geography teacher I had. I ran into him a few years ago in the air port and immediately said Mr Olsen and he knew exactly who I was. He will definitely be missed.
The more pure and genuine soul I ever met! Your compassion and kindness will always inspire me. I’m so thankful for all the experiences we had. I’ll keep praying for your sweet soul! All my respect and condolences for Cy’s family.
When I heard the news I couldn't believe it. You are a friend, a mentor, and a light in this world that will continue to shine because of all the hearts you touched and love you gave! I will miss you greatly. Love you brother!

Mr Olsen, is what I remember him by. The dude that would get you into trouble and make life a “hassle”. Little did I know he only wanted the best for every kid, not only me, but everyone he came across. I remember all the times I’d get called to his office and he would ask me why I did the things I did, but remembering it now he came across as a disappointed dad as opposed to anything else. He was a good man, with a loving and sympathetic heart, and a great attitude. I remember one specific moment when he took the time out of his day to have a conversation with me behind the wings at wheatland highschool in front of the ceramics room, he simply asked me what my plan was once I graduated highschool. And at the moment graduation seemed so far away, but it stuck with me. I remember later that day was when I started to truly think, not only think but contemplate who I was as a human and who I wanted to become. I remember very much disliking Mr Olsen, but only because he got my “posse” and I in trouble. But looking back I realize what a great person he was, with true empathy and love towards kids, and a great respect towards them as well. He treated me like a adult, he would call me out where I went wrong, and he would always ask me questions… questions nobody had ever asked me before, which lead to me critically thinking about life. He was a great dude, one I’ve grown to respect and appreciate throughout my years. My heart breaks to know he has passed, a great man, a wonderful educator, and someone I can truly call a great influence in my life. I couldn’t imagine he would remember me, if he was here. But the impact he had on me has lasted till now, and I will forever remember him as the man who first told me to get my sh*t together after my dad passed. Rest in paradise cy❤️

Man, this breaks my heart to know your gone. Been such a longtime since our teen years but you were always positive, always had a smile on your face and always made people laugh. Seeing you through fb all these years, It appeared you lived life fully, had many adventurous and lots of laughter in life and you were selfless in the sense that you committed your career to kids. You made a mark on this place Cy! I don’t doubt the impact you had on your students or athlete’s. The world definitely became dimmer without your light in it. You will be greatly missed old friend!
I met Cy at YCHS. He had previously worked at Wheatland High so we had a connection. He was very kind to me throughout his time at YC. He had given me some Wheatland gear for a high school reunion including a nice jacket with the pirates emblem. I gave that jacket to my brother so everyone time I see it I will think of Cy. He was a kind hearted gentleman with a big smile. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Cylas❤️
