I am deeply sorry to hear this news, Mr Olsen was always a pleasure to talk to. RIP 🙏 MR. OLSEN.

MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO HIS ENTIRE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ALL THE STUDENTS HE MENTORED.

I will always refer to Cy as Mr. Olsen, not because of the role he had as my vice principal, but out of the respect I had for him. I was a troubled youth, and he gave me guidance and support in ways I never expected from anybody outside of a family environment. I give him a good deal of credit for me succeeding through high school. In my experience its rare to have someone view youth as equals and see the potential rather than view them for face value. Mr. Olsen was a truly special person in that he saw past the facade youth put on, and encouraged them to achieve their greatest potentials always. He knew what to say, when to say it, and how it would impact who he’s talking to in a positive way. He had the gift of empathy. A truly special person who will be missed by many. Speaking for myself along as for others I’m sure that i wouldn’t be where I am today in life if it weren’t for him.

He was very proud of his "car-dog" idea. It fit nicely in the cupholder he said ❤️

My condolences to Cy's family. I first met Cy when he was at WHS, my daughter was there and my exchange student from Korea. After some time I started working with American Cultural Exchange services and Mr Olson would be the one to sigh a exchange students enrollment form and he was always so excited to sign the forms for a new student to come to his school from another country. I loved his enthusiasm and willing to trust me that the students I had going to his schools would be excellent students.

I found him again years later at YCHS and again was so kind and excited for a student. He definitely was 1 of a kind.
