Lisa Chu and's obituary
Lisa Christine Chu was born on March 29, 1969 in Liberia, where her parents were serving as Episcopal missionaries. After a short time they moved back to California, where she grew up in a house surrounded by redwoods near Skylonda.
As a child, Lisa was tender-hearted and loved animals. She loved to read, ride horses and draw. Later she would become a talented computer graphic artist.
She married Steven Biakanja in 2005 and moved into a house in San Jose which they remodeled together. In 2008, the couple had twin girls, Leigh Annabelle and Lucy Marie, followed in 2010 by Benjamin David. Children, always a love of hers, now became her major focus. In early 2011, the family moved to a comfortable home in Carmel Valley, where there was room to garden and room to play. Lisa and Steve divorced in 2018.
Lisa’s main source of fulfillment in life was in loving and caring for her children. This she did with great energy and skill. Lucy, Leigh and Ben shared her passion for nature, gardening and caring for animals. Most importantly, she taught them through example and careful attention, to always aspire to treat others with kindness.
Lisa and her dear children passed away suddenly in a car accident the evening of August 14, 2022, after a family outing to Casa de Fruta, near Hollister, CA. She is survived by her mother, Joan McIntire, father, David Chu, brother, Kevin Chu and his family, step parents, Irene Lawrence and Ken McIntire, and step sisters, Claire Lawrence and Erin Delsol-McIntire.
