Aloha everyone!
Sunday the 5th will soon be here for the Celebration of Chris and I wanted to let you know some things about the event.
First, we've been carefully watching the weather to see if we're still good to hold our event outside. So far, so good - but if there are any changes to the venue, we will let you know. In the meantime, be prepared for rain and bring along a rain jacket or umbrella just in case.
Speaking of weather, the forecast is calling for temps to hit the high 60's. For folks coming in from Michigan, it'll be balmy - but for the people coming in for Hawaii, be ready to layer up!
Also, don't show up an hour early! Remember to set your clocks back an hour on the morning of 11/5 - daylight savings will be kicking in that day.
When arriving at the park, please bear right at the bottom of the road, our site is #8 on the right.
During the celebration, there'll be a few speeches and everyone will have a chance to stand up and share a favorite memory of Chris - I'm sure she provided many a memorable moment to you all.
After the memories are shared, we'll then sing a short song in Chris's honor - payback for all of the songs that she composed for her co-workers on their birthdays at the county.
By that time, I'm sure you'll be hungry so we'll open up a Hawaiian plate lunch style buffet along with a variety of non-alcoholic. If you want something hot like coffee and tea, please feel free to bring some in a thermos as we won't have the ability to heat water at the site. And for those of you who'd like to imbibe, you're welcome to BYOB!
And finally, a number of people have asked how they can help. Outside of the crew that Chris recruited, you're welcome to make a $ contribution, though not required. If you do, Venmo works @Steve-Shaw-50
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at srshaw8@gmail.com or Tara Clark at tarariceclark@gmail.com
