Just weeks before Ben was diagnosed with cancer, Ben enlisted my help to go over to the home of a member of our congregation at church. There, we painted the interior walls in several rooms and bathrooms. At this point, he was exhausted from what we later learned was a debilitating tumor, but his love for others and service-oriented spirit allowed him to complete the project happily.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Benjamin?"

I had the distinct pleasure of knowing both Ben and his wife Sarah. I met Ben in Fall 2014 at BYU. Ben and his roommate Riley lived in the dorm next to me. I was called as the Elder’s Quorum President of the ward for that floor and called Ben to be a teacher for the Elder’s Quorum President.
I remember being inspired by his insights, but above all else his love of Jesus Christ.
As the year went on, I really began to struggle mentally with college and other aspects of dorm life. Ben ensured that I always felt welcome and loved in his dorm. I spent a lot of time at his and Riley’s dorm- talking, laughing, and just feeling grateful for his friendship.
Whenever anyone brought up Ben- the first thing I would say and still say to this day is “Ben is a good man!”
Years later I would laugh when I learned Ben had married Sarah Foote (who I took to a school dance once 😂) I could not imagine two more perfect people for each other!
My life is better for having known Ben. I will forever be grateful for the year of living next to him and his support that he offered me and knew I needed, even when I never voiced it.

Ben was the official apartment boyfriend to all us roommates while he and Sarah were dating and engaged. He helped us study, talk through our dating lives and always made us laugh. You could always count on Ben being on the couch when you got home in the evening telling funny stories from danish class he taught at BYU and asking us about our days, he was such a joy to have around and staple in our apartment. We love Ben so much 🩷

Ben - my friend always loved to serve in every possible capacity. We enjoyed time together while serving others, loved grilling spicy meat - my spicy food Buddy. Ben and Sarah’s duet musical at church will always be our best music at church.

Ben and I shared a love for sports, especially basketball. He loved to watch all the NBA games and football games with me and we were able to get to know each other through this passion. He was such a kind and thoughtful man.
