IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DEAR FRIEND.
Alake Olayinka Beatrice Ayorinde JP
It is with a heavy heart that I write about the sudden passing of my childhood friend - Olayinka, my sister, in every sense except blood.
We shared a bond so pure, so full of joy and light, that even as we grew older, nothing ever came between us.
We met as little girls in Ikorodu road when we didn't know the meaning of friendship, fond of each other, full of dreams, laughter, and endless energy. We went to the same primary school, always side by side, in every adventure. After primary school, we made a plan to attend the same high school, excited to continue our education, but life had other plans. My father sent me to boarding school in another state in the Ogun area, and though we were apart, our friendship never waved.
During the holidays, we would reunite like no time had passed. We spent days swimming and cheering each other on. I'd often follow her to her table tennis practices. She was the pride of Lagos State - undefeated, graceful, and focused.
Trophies 🏆 and gold medals lined her shelves, but she remained humble and kind through it all
After high school, she moved to study in London, and I began working. Life moved forward, but somehow, God brought us together again in London. We became mothers and women - still as just silly, still as full of fun as we were when we were kids. We laughed, we cried, we had done businesses, and we leaned on each other through every season.
She later moved to the United States, and though distances grew between us again, our connection never broke. We still found time to talk, to joke, to reminisce. She never lost that childlike joy. That kindness, that passion for life and people.
She was strong, talented, brilliant, and beautiful inside and out, an inspiration to everyone who knew her. A mother, a loyal friend, from a royal family of Giesi ruling house of ile-ife and Adeniyi royal house of Akure.
This loss is painful beyond words. She left too soon, far too soon. But I take comfort in knowing she lived a blessed life, a joyful life, and that I was blessed to be a part of it. I will carry her laughter with me forever. I will remember her gold-medal spirit, her kind heart, and our memories.
God will be the strength of Esther, Deborah, and Demi Grace. God will protect you and guide y'all.
Rest well, my dear friend.
A true woman of faith, you ran your race with grace and love. A cherished friend, a golden soul, a champion in life and spirit, you are loved, and you will never be forgotten Alake Olayinka ore mi.
"WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT ENTER INTO THE JOY OF YOUR LORD."
-Matthew 25:23
May your beautiful soul rest in perfect peace.
