I met Armando very early on in my practice at St. Joseph’s and quickly understood how much he cared about his patients. He expected the docs in the ER to know how to correctly treat his complicated clientele and was always ready to quiz and teach us the β€œright” way BUT also had some dry humor to lighten the mood. I was surprised and personally sad when he and Alice retired at such a young age but now understand why. Live while you can.
Alice and family, We are saddened at the loss of Armando. Please know we will hold your family in our prayers. May God bless you and may you feel his loving arms around you to comfort you and give you strength in the days ahead.
Jojo and I were good friends in college and beyond. I first met Mr. Dijamco and his entire family over Christmas break back in 1993. Jojo invited me to their family Christmas party. Mr. Dijamco and his entire family welcomed me warmly and from that day, they have all felt like family. (It was also at that gathering that I was introduced to balut eggs which were not bad.)

Mr. Dijamco always wore a great smile and always had interesting nuggets to share and no shortage of medical stories to share as well -- some down right hilarious. While my interactions with him were quite limited over the years, his impact was still made. I did have a small impact on him, I think as as well. I did correct his perception of horses. (Arlene, do you remember the conversation about the back leg joints of a horse? :) ) The world often seems both too small and too big at the same time.

I am forever blessed to know Mr. Dijamco, and will never forget him. My deepest condolences to my friends - Jojo, Arlene, Mrs. Dijamco, Angeline and Anne.
Alice and family,
I was surprised and saddened by the passing of Armando. My deepest sympathy and condolences to you and your entire family. May his memory and legacy provide you with strength during this challenging and difficult time. May he RIP. With deepest regrets.

Remembering Armando…

January 25, 2021 was an extremely sad day for the Atlanta community. We lost one of the most revered physicians, a special friend, an excellent educator, and a loving family man. A magna cum laude graduate from the University of Santo Tomas College of Medicine, Armando Dijamco was one of the best nephrologist in town and ran a very successful practice in Atlanta. A brilliant physician, he was constantly approached for medical advice and opinion. Aside from his love of medicine, he was a passionate gardener. he kept a sizable, beautiful, lush, prized β€œsecret garden” any botanical garden would envy.

A dear friend to most everybody, he was someone special to me, and also had a special place in my parents’ hearts. Continuously available any time for their care and needs, he saved my Dad’s life in 2009. Always thoughtful, he never failed to check on my parents whenever he visited the Philippines, even for just a simple phone call. Now that my parents are gone he still checked on me last week after the death of my Dad. So I was beside myself and broke my heart when I heard the news of his unexpected death.

he will surely be missed and is a great loss to the Atlanta community especially to the Filipino-American community.

β€œDo not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.” By Mary Elizabeth Frye

Miss you and may you rest in peace, Armando…..

New to Saint Joseph’s myself in 1986, it wasn’t till 4 years after when I personally met β€œThe” Dr. Armando Dijamco! A soft-spoken person, who’s name is well known and respected at Saint Joseph’s and Northside Hospital.
I remember well during our conversation, he informed me about the newly-formed Philippine Nurses Association of Ga. And highly encouraged me to join. Ten years after, I served my term as President!
That was the start of our long friendship that spanned thru Nursing Recruitment and continue to being an advocate/supporter of the Association. He was quite supportive of our activities to raise funds like caroling at their house, and to the extent of celebrating his Mother’s birthday, and playing the piano himself! Little did we know β€œmusic” is second nature to him! May he rest in peace!

Sending hugs and condolences to the family of Tito Undo, who kindly kept in touch throughout the years with the family of Floro/Carmelita Dijamco-Pamintuan, and Elvira Dijamco, his first cousins from Angeles City, the Philippines. Prayers for Tito Undo's eternal repose, and for Tita Alice and the entire family during this difficult time.

Having known Ando since UST high school and through Pre- Med and Medical school, I am always in awe of his great intelligence especially his Nano technology foresight for the Philippines. Though we were not close, not being a Tauan, I will miss this great man and his legacy. Ando, you will never be forgotten. God speed to His paradise and God bless your family! Dante
Alice and family,
My sincere condolences on the passing of Armando. I know there is nothing I can say to ease the pain of your loss. But what a wonderful man and all those wonderful memories to cherish.
Warmest regards always,
Rex Foster
I am part of the new nurse recruits of Saint Joseph’s Hospital back in 2002. Dr. Armando and Dr. Alice heartily welcomed us in their house. He gave us survival tips and stories about the life in the U. S. Dr. Armando was very serious a but readily smile when I meet him at work and never forget to ask how’s my family doing.
He is a silent supporter of the Philippine Nurses of Georgia as he graciously open his home to do caroling for the scholarship fundraising. He always play the piano and enjoyably singing Christmas carols with the Filipino nurses.
Dr. Alice and family, in behalf of PNAGA, we are very sorry for your loss.

I met Armando before I'd even talked to Arlene. It was move-in day of freshman year at Harvard. He'd just pulled up to our dorm with Alice and Arlene, who happened to have the room right above mine. I remember seeing Armando with his arms full of Arlene's stuff and a wide smile and thinking, "He looks like a nice guy." Over the next 26-plus years, I learned my instincts were spot on. He was a nice guy... and a whole, whole lot more.

Armando is probably the most passionate person I've ever met, rivaled only by Arlene who no doubt inherited it from him. Passionate about medicine. About learning. About teaching. About gardening. About music. About making the world a better place. About complex stuff that I'd never given a second thought to (i.e. nanotechnology), but he embraced to understand it so that he could help change the world. And, needless to say, passionate about his friends and family.

Some people flit through the life, without a care in the world. But not Armando. He truly cared. About the big things, like a patient's prognosis or a lifechanging decision; and he cares about the little things, like his hydrangea's health, or the coolest technology or an "America's Got Talent" episode. And he took care of everyone in his own special way -- (over)filling us with food, handling the bills and little details of everyday life, and making sure his grandkids had the gadgets they wanted. As a son-in-law, I'd joke that having a father-in-law who did everything was a tough act to follow. It's such a huge blessing to have a father-in-law who not only knew everything, but would do anything for his family.

Like so many people, I wish I'd had the chance to thank "Lolo" one last time for all that he's done -- especially for me, Arlene and our four girls. I am grateful that he accepted me into the family, that I got to hear many of his stories, and I got to see life in a whole new way thanks to him and Alice. Our world is so much brighter, so much fuller, so much better because of him.

-- Love, son-in-law Greg

We will cherish Armando’s love of life, family and food especially Filipino cuisine. He was always eager to share a story about a place he had visited or something he had learned. He was such a gracious host to me, Kate and the boys when we visited Atlanta. I will never forget hanging out with Armando and Alice in Hartford during their visit to Trinity to see Anne. He will be sorely missed but his energy and positive life will remain with all of us and never be forgotten. Our sincerest condolences and sympathies go out to Alice and the family.
We had so many wonderful memories with Armando and Alice beginning from our first meeting at Parents Weekend at Harvard when Arlene and Greg were Freshman. Through the years we cherish the many times we were greeted with that smile that told us we were welcomed and that smile that told us to enjoy ourselves. And then Armando treated us like royalty with his endless dishes of delicious food prepared from the heart with love. His graciousness will never be forgotten.
We send our deepest condolences to Alice and the whole family. We share your grief.
To Alice and the Dijamco family,
We share your grief on the loss of Armando. Ed and I were shocked to hear his sudden death. Our best memory of him is showing us his garden which he was so proud of and loved since he himself worked on. That was the time a handful of us from SJA got together in your house. Those memories will always be with us. I know that his smile and his love for your children and grandchildren will serve as part of your healing.
Much love from Arcel and Ed Talusan
For those of you who don't know me, Armando is my older brother. I called him Undo.

It was so heartbreaking to get the sad news that morning that my brother Undo passed suddenly. My heart was broken in pieces and I had a hard time believing that it was true.

He left the Philippines after college to pursue his medical practice in the U.S. After several years, I followed to join our family here.

I will always remember Undo for helping me start my life here in Atlanta. He and his wife Alice took me in to live with them until I got a job and was ready to make it on my own.

He was my go-to person for any guidance I needed. It could be about houseplants, gardening, home repairs, financial advice, medical questions, how to cook his best tasting salmon, or just about anything. I am sure the angels are happy to have a new chef in Heaven.

He and I had gotten closer lately, calling each other more often during the pandemic. He would call me to tell me funny stories about his grandkids so I know how much he was really missing them. Just recently, he called to tell me not buy any more bushes because he had rooted several hydrangeas for me to plant.

I will forever be grateful for having him as my brother. My husband Ken and I will truly miss him. Rest in peace Undo, we will always love you.

Cynthia (Cindy) and Ken Hewitt
