Our sincere condolences to Andy's family and friends. We met him when we were researching bands for our wedding in 1993 and were blown away by his talent and showmanship with Wildest Dreams and ended up hiring them for our wedding. We reconnected with Andy a few years later while he was music teacher at Bright Beginnings and later a guitar teacher for our oldest daughter. Andy was a shining light in every community he was part of and he leaves a lasting legacy of music, art, and community in Jamaica Plain. Rest in Peace Andy.

I met Andy in Boston and often went to see him perform in Wildest Dreams. When he moved out to Western Mass. I was thrilled to hire him to do the music program at Cushman Scott Children's Center where I was the director. He brought music, laughter, love and fun to the children. Sending deep condolences.

11 Y/o BanJordi 🪕 loved Tony Bennett ‘s song I left My Heart in San Francisco. He asked Andy to play it for him, Andy complied at the Piano… Jordi started goofing off making up the lyrics which gave us and started collecting these….
I Left my Heart in San Francisco
I left my Shoes In Santa Cruz
I left my spoon in Cancun
I left my banana in Havana…
We have at least 150 of these silly “variations” that we sent back and forth via text or when we got together for years…

Years ago I was at Camp Cooley for way too long. I had friends visiting me there but nobody but Andy showed up with his guitar bringing happiness, hope, solidarity, love and the needed distraction from a difficult health scare.
Needless to say the nurses were at the door listening to the music! They asked me: “When is your dad coming back with the guitar”? I miss you so much Andy!

Our routine was getting together to grab lunch in Amherst either at Arigato or Oriental Flavor. Going for walks at the Quabbin or in the woods behind the house, chatting, talking about music. He was always asking about the kids, he even had a couple of “instrumental” nicknames for them BanJordi 🪕 and can’t remember the other for Ben. We love to sat down and play old records. Every time he came home to visit he brought me a CD with music or a toy for the kids, including the infamous yodeling pickle 🥒!!!
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with Andy?"
