Dear family of Andy Holiner,

I was quite young when my family were neighbors with Sylvia and Harry of Beaumont St. Our empty lot was where the kids frequently played baseball. I remember Andy as such a really nice and trustworthy neighborhood boy. My memories of him from childhood are pleasant. I only learned of his passing by discovering he was a musician some years ago and recently re-googling him. My condolences to his wife and band mates.

As of Election Day, we raised $3,770 for the Andy Memorial Fundraiser!

I imagined Andy throughout this, sitting at  his computer, email blasting all of you :) If you haven’t yet, you can still donate, here’s the link:

PLEASE READ! Annie asked us to post this letter to everyone from her as an Event, but we are having technical difficulties with Everloved. Since it is time-sensitive, we are posting it this way, and will continue to try to make it post as an Event also. Here's the letter!:

---

Dear friends,

As you may be aware, last week, on October 6th, we marked the first anniversary of Andy’s death. It was a hard day for me, but a friend suggested a perfect way to honor him at this moment in our nation’s history: the Andy Holiner Memorial Gift to Movement Voter Project.

Andy and I enthusiastically hosted a fundraiser for Movement Voter Project (MVP) in 2022. It remains an organization I support because it is brilliantly effective at getting out the vote (and sustaining progressive movements at the same time).

I know Andy would be thrilled about all his loved ones and communities joining together with MVP at this insane national moment.

In Andy's honor, I've arranged a special donations link we can use to make a Memorial Gift, so all will be tallied together. If it feels right to you and is feasible, please join me in honoring Andy and his legacy of working for love, friendship, justice, and joy, by contributing to a memorial donation using this link: https://secure.actblue.com/do…

[Please note: when you click through the link, it will look like a generic Movement Voter donation page, but it really is linked to the Andy Memorial Fundraiser specifically.]

The ground game is where this election will be won or lost, and they need our money right now. The margin of victory is the margin of effort in the ground game--and funding the ground game is what Movement Voter Project does. Every single dollar donated will be put to crucial use getting out the vote in the swing states we must win.

For folks who aren't familiar with Movement Voter Project, it is a national organization that funds the most strategic, effective grassroots voter mobilization organizations in swing states. This "ground game" is how we can win. Did I mention these are all groups working within their own communities, year-round, building the progressive base for the long term? Did I mention these are low-turnout and first-time voters, BIPOC, youth, immigrant, rural, urban, queer? MVP is incredible and I am proud to volunteer with them. You can learn more here: https://movement.vote/

As of today, we have already raised $920. Please click on that link above to be part of this collective effort of love and justice.

Oceans of love,

Annie

This year Jamaica Plain's Wake Up the Earth Festival will be dedicated to Andy. He loved the festival, and Wildest Dreams played it for probably 25 years. Great memories! (Sound is not great at the venue, but you get the idea). Thanks to Chuck Rosina for the video.

I didn't want to mess up my Andy picks by playing with them too much - so I made a way to bring Andy with me whenever I play. Since he left, I've decided to play more music, with more people, anytime, all the time. Now he can come with and look over my shoulder and smile.

I just learned yesterday of Andy's passing. A former professor of mine a Boston College informed me when we reconnected. I got to know Andy while working together at the Boston College Campus School.

He is without a doubt one of the kindest and friendliest people I have ever met. Whenever he came to the Campus School, he brought with him a special energy that made everybody in the room smile. He would walk around playing guitar, making sure to stop by each student in the room to get 1 on 1 time and make them feel special. They would get so excited as he got closer, smiling and laughing while he strummed. "Get on Board" was one of my favorite songs he sang there - it always brightened the mood.

I remember he also had these fun bongos I used to play during these music sessions. One Friday he noticed how much I enjoyed playing them, and he offered to let me borrow them for the weekend.

I only knew Andy for four years (2011-2015), but I am so thankful I had the chance to get to know him, and I am so sad that he's no longer with us. He was a very special person.

Andy taught me how to play guitar while together at Ohio State. Later in nyc he played music with  my late husband Don   Always making me laugh and always a shining light in this world.

He will be forever missed. Andy left a large foot print on this world.   I believe he is up there, playing music. Continuing to bring joy

Listening to Andy play and sing and watching him on video I'm smiling through it all - that's the effect Andy had/has on me still.  His light is still coming through for me - amazing....
Morning Annie, watching Mister Rodgers this cold rainy morning on my favorite PBS. And someone in the story playing guitar, and teaching about the light that shines from within. Singing "This little light of mine" I was feeling and thinking how appropriate for hanukah and wish children in middle east could have this monent as the kids on the carpet in a circle are experiencing. So I googled Andy and came across the obit. How sad. Im sorry his light has turned off from his body, but the light he shared over the years will continue with kids in their memories.

I am so very sad. He was truly a light.

I have especially warm memories of his volunteering--out of state--to help elect Antonio Delgado to represent NY19.

I grieve and pray--in his memory and for his beloveds.
