William D. “Bill” Roy of Wesley Chapel, Florida, formerly of Horsham, PA, passed away May 17, 2025, at home. Bill was born August 17, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William H. and Virginia A. Roy (nee Madonna). Bill is the loving husband of Coleen, brother of Susan J. Philips and her husband Robert, Linda D. Roy, and Thomas E. Roy and his wife Jacqueline D.; father of Monica L. Roy and William “Billy” S. Roy; grandfather of Diona M. Roy, Lexia E. Roy, Marissa L. Roy, and great-grandfather of Jasper W. Roy; uncle to Bonnie N. Philips, Aurora L. Philips, Thomas W. Roy, and Krista D. Becker.
Coleen’s children (Samara, Mitchell, and Tiana) and her grandchildren (Sienna, Jayda, Isla and Owen) also held a special place in Bill’s heart and he in theirs.
Bill graduated from Hatboro Horsham High School, class of 1973. For many years Bill operated his own company as a self employed engineer, designing Fire Protection systems throughout the US. Bill was a problem solver; he was a skilled carpenter, electrician, plumber, and mechanic. Bill loved to visit the family summer home in Chincoteague, VA every July and his passions included animals, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, cigars, traveling, and food.
Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a loyal friend. Leaving us far too soon, he will be greatly missed by all the family and friends who loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
Services will be held by Rev. Owen Griffiths.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to SPCA of Montgomery County, 19 East Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
