I met Mr. Fuher (and I am sure he would have preferred that as I got older that I called him "Bill" but I never could out of shear respect for him) through Sal Rodriguez at the Goleta Boys Club. I became friends with his two children, Craig and Tammy, and what I admired most about Mr. Fuher is that, while there was no doubt that he loved his family very much and that his family was the most important thing in his life, he was also always sincerely happy for other people's joys and successes (which is a quality that is not exhibited by a lot of people). To illustrate, I am a few years older than Craig and Mr. Fuher used to come to our varsity basketball games at San Marcos High (Craig was too young to be on the team at that point), and when I would look up in the stands or talk to him after the game, he was always sincerely happy for our team and me. Then, years later, when my son (Jerry) played basketball at Westmont College, Mr. and Mrs. Fuher (along with Tammy, Greg and Mr. Fuher's grandson, Willie) would attend my son's games, which I thought was awesome. But the greatest thing about seeing Mr. Fuher at these games is that you could tell that he was happy for my son and happy for me (watching my son) -- seeing this display of sincere joy from a non-relative always gave me a great feeling and I will always be incredibly appreciative Mr. Fuher's support and interest in our San Marcos Team, my son's Westmont team and me as individual. There is no doubt that Mr. Fuher is probably watching some game in heaven enjoying the festivities. Thank you, Mr. Fuher, for your friendship, support and the sincere joy that you brought to your family, all of your friends and me. We will be keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I know he’s hitting those corner side walk shots in heaven ! I’ll always remember that walk away shot! May he rest in peace. Love Paul Boccali

Bill was always a shining light of optimism and caring. He loved Elvis, Sammy and Neil Diamond. Even sang their songs when the moment prompted him to. Rarely down unless the Braves weren’t doing well. Great man.
He is and will be missed. Go Braves!!

My love to Judy, Tammy and Craig. So sorry for your great loss.
Not Sam or Bill to me but ALWAYS Uncle Bruce or chubby cheeks!
I will always love him and be grateful for the love and joy he brought to my life.
Love to remember Uncle Bruce and my dad Jimmy laughing together.
Love always,
Colleen Fuher Elliott
