Ty's obituary
On Friday, January 21, 2022, the Elk Grove and Cameron Park communities lost one of our beloved police officers, Tyler “Ty” Ryan Lenehan, 44. Ty was on duty on his department motorcycle on Highway 99, when a wrong-way, drunk driver, hit him. Ty was transported to the University of Davis Medical Center, where he later died.
Ty began his career attending SRPSTC ARC Academy in 2012 and became a Reserve Police Officer with the Citrus Heights Police Department in 2012. He was hired by the Galt Police Department as a Police Officer in 2014 and later became a Motor Officer. In December 2016, Ty was hired by the Elk Grove Police Department and followed his passion to again become a Motor Officer. Prior to Ty’s law enforcement career, he served his country as an Aircraft Structural Maintenance Journeyman with the United States Air Force and worked side-by-side with his father as an electrician.
Ty’s vibrant personality brightened up every person he met, in his professional and personal life. Ty was a man of God and very involved with his church, Gold Country Baptist Church in Shingle Springs. He loved spending time with family, hunting, barbequing, and hoped to obtain his pilot’s license when he retired.
Ty is survived by his wife Jessica, two children Austin and Sydney, parents Randy and Debby, siblings Gerry (Cori), Kyle (Krisia), and Melanie (Jared), 5 nephews and 6 nieces. Ty will be remembered for his contagious smile, being a hard worker, devoted, genuine human being that loved to keep people laughing, and making his amazing barbeque.
Ty will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
