Travis's obituary

Travis Eugene Jones, a gentle giant, lover of basketball, and fixer of all broken things went to meet his Heavenly Father on May 16, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born to Gene and Inez Jones on February 15, 1935 in a one-room adobe house on the wind-swept plains of New Mexico.

Travis is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Judy Jones. He also leaves Brent, Allyson and Christopher, born to him and Alice (Redd) Jones (deceased). He was a loving father figure to Judy’s children Jodi, Jim and Joe and the very best grandfather to eleven thriving grandchildren.

Travis graduated from Floyd High School in Floyd, NM, attended New Mexico Highland University and was an Army veteran and a member of the Army Rifle Team. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after having worked at many Washington State dams as a machinist, with many years spent at Albeni Falls Dam in Priest River Idaho.

Travis’ sweet nature, kind heart and able hands will be missed by all that knew and loved him. His family finds solace in knowing he is at peace in heaven with a rifle in his hand and a worn-out Louis L'Amour in his pocket.

A memorial service to celebrate Travis' life will be held on June 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the home of Chris and Laurie Jones over looking his long-time view of the Pend Oreille River located at 2304 Le Clerc Creek Road in Newport. All those who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and share memories of this remarkable man.
