Thomas (Tom)'s obituary

Thomas (Tom) Edwin Franklyn Oliver

September 28, 1943 – October 27, 2025

It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas (Tom) Edwin Franklyn Oliver on October 27, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Born in Regina on September 28, 1943, Tom lived a life rich with kindness, curiosity, and creativity. He built an exciting and successful career in the oil and gas industry, earning the respect of colleagues through his integrity and steady leadership. Outside of work, Tom’s many passions painted the story of who he was — a gifted musician who loved playing the trumpet, a talented painter whose art reflected his calm spirit, and a devoted team member who paddled with the Granddragon Senior dragonboat team right up until his passing.

Tom will be remembered for his patience, warmth, and generosity — a man who always thought of others first, whose gentle humor and thoughtful nature left lasting impressions on everyone he met.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Gail Oliver; his children, Traci James (Mark James) and granddaughter Miami James; Cory Baldree (Dusty Baldree) and grandsons Jaxen and Camden Baldree; and Robb Oliver (Lindsay Oliver) and grandchildren Skye, Shea, and Kenna Oliver. He is also remembered by his living siblings, Jim Oliver, Lorraine Caton, and Merle Weller, as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, 4-7pm at False Creek Community Centre in Lind Hall. Details & RSVP found on the events tab.
